Job Purpose/Role 

 

Our Accumulation & Catastrophe Risk Management team is looking for an experienced Data Analyst for a newly created role in Munich. In this role, you will work closely with the Head of Accumulation Steering, your team and other key stakeholders. You will help the company and business functions to explore, interrogate data and implement new solution across the various LOBs and regions in AGCS to support advanced analytics and reporting. You will enable constant progress in the decision-making processes with a special focus on accumulation management and capacity steering.


We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about getting hands on with the company’s data, developing innovative solutions and bringing it all together in a way that maximizes our data and analytics potential. 


The candidate will work in an international environment and collaborate various stakeholders, both within the own team and across other AGCS functions to support the company in its transformation journey and expand our technical capabilities.


Responsibilities

 

In this role you will…

 

•    Collaborate with the business to design and implement new solutions to enhance the AGCS capabilities around portfolio management (from single risk reporting, to aggregation via complex models to profitability analyses)

•    Develop dynamic reporting dashboards and similar application to increase business friendly usage and impact of your analytics

•    Independently drive and lead data projects with our business functions along the entire project lifecycle, from ideation and data analysis, proof-of-concept, implementation, validation, and integration or hand over

•    Develop accumulation, capacity and profitability steering tools to implement business strategy into concrete action items

•    Collaborate with Data Engineers and Analyst from various Departments to deliver, maintain 
innovative solutions. Constantly improve existing tools and pipelines to ensure continuous progress

•    Support the Accumulation & Catastrophe Risk Mgmt team on data analytics and promote best practices 

•    Guide, support and mentor external users to maximize the value of our solutions

 

To be successful in the role:

 

You will have….
            
•    Minimum of five years’ experience working in a Data focused role, ideally in a P&C insurance environment and some experience of working alongside Risk, Portfolio or central Underwriting functions
•    Fluent in English language
•    Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Science or Engineering – especially in fields such as Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or Software Engineering.
•    Skilled in data visualization, exploration and interpretation
•    Experience working within the agile development environment – managing data and projects using this methodology. You should be comfortable in a fast paced environment and able to consistently revise approaches; effectively work together with various team members when gathering requirements, delivering solutions, and eliciting suggestions and feedback.
•    Significant experience in SQL and excellent understanding of relational database and data warehouse methodologies
•    Experience using one or more RDBMS tools (e.g. SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle)
•    Strong expertise in Python (or R)
•    Experience with JavaScript or CSS
•    Experience in data pipeline/ETL development, cleaning and bringing together multiple sources into a single warehouse
•    Understanding of source control methodologies (GIT experience preferable)
•    Independent and self-directed individuals that thrive when faced with challenge
•    Ability to communicate and work effectively with technical and non-technical team members
•    Desire and ability to learn the business and become an expert in the industry
•    Willingness to think out-of-the box, apply creative thinking and strong analytical and problem-solving skills to transform business problems in quantitative questions to be answered with data and advanced analytics.
•    Desire to team up with underwriting and push for AGCS' target portfolio.
•    Interest to learn more about risk appetite & active portfolio steering.
•    Enthusiasm to act as knowledge multiplier across underwriting regions and Lines of Business


Ideally you will also have…


•    Experience developing with Apache Spark (Spark SQL and Python Spark)
•    Experience with Software Development practices (e.g. CI/CD) 
•    Experience with comprehensive Enterprise data management platforms and handling of big data
•    Experience using cloud-based solutions (e.g. AWS, Azure)
•    Understanding of Machine Learning and predictive modelling techniques
•    Experience in an international working environment.
