Cloud Platform Engineer

We are looking for a solution-oriented Cloud Platform Engineer to join our team at Allianz Technology. This role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless run of our IT platforms, aligning with our strategic objectives. The candidate shall develop, maintain, and automate our PaaS solution leveraging the Azure ecosystem ensuring high levels of performance, availability, and customer satisfaction.  

You Will

• Design, develop, maintain and optimize robust and scalable IT platforms, with a focus on Azure Synapse and other Azure services, to meet business needs and performance standards.  

• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using terraform 

• Develop and implement platform management policies, processes, and procedures based on industry best practices.  

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation and integration of IT platforms. 

• Coordinate with vendors and third-party service providers (e.g. in relation to cloud provider APIs, feature or incident coordination) 

• Challenge yourself: regular platform reviews help you and us to derive insights and recommendations for improvements. 

• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence. 

• Manage the full lifecycle of IT platforms, from planning and design to deployment and decommissioning, ensuring alignment with business objectives. 

• Leverage enterprise knowledge to navigate the complexities of large organizations, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and compliant with corporate standards. 

• Engage with enterprise architecture teams to align platform strategies with broader organizational goals and technology roadmaps. 

• Act as an IT generalist with knowledge across the entire technology stack, from network infrastructure to application layers. 

• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, applying this knowledge to enhance platform capabilities and drive innovation. 

• Guide customers to build their applications on top of the platform services 

Your Skills

• Proven, hands-on experience in managing IT platforms or projects, ideally with a focus on Azure. Familiarity with Terraform, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, SQL, Spark and other programming languages 

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and sense of responsibility 

• Demonstrated experience in managing the full lifecycle of IT platforms 

• Understanding of constraints for technical solutions that might come from e.g. compliance standards & security concepts as well as commercial constraints (IT budget management) 

• Experience working within large enterprises, understanding their complexities, governance, and compliance requirements. 

• Broad knowledge across the entire technology stack, including network infrastructure, operating systems, storage, databases, middleware, and applications including authentication and authorization 

• Proven ability to steer topics end-to-end and getting things done 

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified
