The Head of Risk & Control is covering the domains Enterprise Risk Management, Risk Governance, Operational/IT-Risk Management, Internal Control System, Control Assurance as well as Third-Party-Risk-Management and Outsourcing Compliance. You will be charged with implementing an effective Operational and IT Risk Management framework and coordinating relationships with control functions across both business segments Allianz Technology and Allianz Services including Compliance, Legal and Audit as well as Allianz Group center functions. Further on you are in charge to provide oversight on the risk profile, to assess risks and controls, to develop mitigating strategies and to prepare customer assurance as well as management reporting. This role is headquartered in Munich. The Head of Risk & Control is directly reporting into the Chief Risk Officer of Allianz Technology SE. Peers to you are the Risk Officers in the regions and functions, who also report directly into the Chief Risk Officer. You will join a diverse team of different background and nationalities and with a strong support from off-shore experts.


Job Task

  • Oversight on risk profile of entire AZ Technology Group, covering all risk categories and all business activities
  • Preparation of reporting to the Risk Committee and following that, to the Board and Supervisory Board
  • Development and update of the Risk Strategy of AZ Technology and related guidance such as Risk, Internal Control (IRCS) and Outsourcing Policy as well as underlying standards and procedures
  • Reviewing for approval of transactions such as new business activities, projects, investment decisions and outsourcing contracts
  • Managing of the Internal Control System, initiating the IRCS life-cycle, assessing the operational effectiveness of internal controls (e.g. financial reporting, outsourcing, IT general controls, Information Security) and preparing the Control Assurance Reporting to AZ OEs and global co-ordination of external auditor´s activities
  • Co-ordination of risk assessment, identification and monitoring activities including Risk & Control Self-Assessment, Operational Risk Event Capture, Top Risk Assessment, Outsourcing Risk Assessment and Risk Reporting
  • Oversight on criticality and risk profile of all third party relationships; Co-ordination of all activities of the central Outsourcing Function; initiating the Outsourcing life-cycle, providing Outsourcing Assurance as well as Group Center reporting
  • Co-ordination of near- and off-shore capacities with the Global Support team
  • Drive the design, implementation and roll-out of an industrialized risk management process, enabling end-to-end automized processing and integration of all related process participants
  • Maintain close collaboration to Allianz Group Center functions (Group Risk, Group Operations, Group IT) for reporting (operational risk, capital, ad-hoc etc.) and for alignment of AZ Technology/AZ Services specific implementations of guidelines, projects and technical solutions


Candidate Profile

  • 10+ years of professional experience in different areas of enterprise risk management, ideally on the background of an IT service provider and across the risk categories: operational risk, IT risk, project risk, outsourcing/vendor risk, business risk
  • Successful multi-year performance of a leadership role with direct reports (line function or project) 
  • University degree (Business Informatics, Business Administration, Business Mathematics) or equivalent qualification
  • Excellent ability to understand complex issues, elaborate and convey information clearly and effectively in respect to the audience / level of management (both verbal and in writing) and at the same time to reduce complexity
  • Capability to build collaborative working relationships and ability to work in virtual and international teams, International experience a plus
  • Outstanding analytical and conceptual skills; Capability to develop solutions based on a strong technical argumentation and an excellent balance between risk and return
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with ability to balance between independent oversight and business-partner thinking
  • Self-directed working approach with the ability to work self-responsible and autonomously, also in times with high pressure and with the flexibility to combine recurrent task-oriented work with project-oriented working style
  • Basic knowledge of regulatory environment and international standards for service provider in the finance sector (IT Law, Solvency II, Basel, COSO, COBIT, ISAE, IAASB, ISO)
  • Fluent English skills (written and spoken)
