Job Purpose/Role 

Based in Munich and reporting to the Head of Reinsurance Analytics in the AGCS Reinsurance Department, you will be involved in manifold analytical tasks around modeling, pricing and optimization of reinsurance treaties and structures. You will extract, prepare and process relevant exposure and claims data using a variety of software and independently drive the development of own analytical tools. You will work closely with Claims, Actuarial, Cat Modelers, Finance and Underwriting departments to help develop and assess efficient reinsurance solutions.




In this role you will…


•    Take on responsibility for specific lines of business with regards to reinsurance analytics
•    Participate in discussions with the business to understand and address their needs with regards to reinsurance solutions in a global AGCS context
•    Extract, edit and process relevant claims and exposure data (e.g. NatCat ELTs/YLTs from RMS or AIR) 
•    Define and evaluate reinsurance solutions based on Monte-Carlo-Simulations and burning cost analysis
•    Closely work with involved departments from Claims, Finance, Underwriting, Risk Management to align assumptions and ensure consistent analytics
•    Analyze efficiency of reinsurance structures against various benchmarks and KPIs with a view to optimize the risk-return profile
•    Review, orchestrate and document further development of in-house software tools 
•    Engage in best practice sharing and constant know-how transfer within the team and towards stakeholders 


To be successful in the role:


You will have…


•    Degree in mathematics, actuarial science, finance, business administration or other area that involves a strong focus on quantitative analysis
•    Professional reinsurance experience and in-depth understanding of reinsurance practice    
•    Expert knowledge of reinsurance instruments, underlying business and Actuarial / Risk Capital requirements    
•    Technical and practical background in one industrial insurance line of business, general understanding of all major business segments and a robust understanding of actuarial principles and practices    
•    Experience of working internationally and of remotely supporting global teams across numerous locations    
•    Ability to evaluate risk reward effects of reinsurance, e.g. impact on P&L and capital position of company
•    Ability to express ideas and communicate clearly across hierarchies, both written and verbally.  Ability to "sell" a winning story to a prepared audience
•    Analytical Skills: ability to analyze highly complex data, from multiple sources, in detail; identify and resolve issues before they transpire
•    Ability to develop and positively influence key, strategic position holders across locations and functions
•    Desire to constantly develop own skills and expertise and share knowledge across the organization
•    Practical knowledge and experience in programming languages like VBA, Python and SQL 
•    Fluent English skills
