Job Purpose/Role 


The Global Pricing team is part of the Chief Underwriting Office at AGCS and is responsible for understanding AGCS portfolios and their performance and for ensuring the pricing tools are calibrated to secure AGCS’s future profitability. You will join an international team located across London, Munich, Bucharest, Chicago and New York.


AGCS is undergoing a dynamic shift in its data landscape and is looking to expand its Global Pricing team to leverage this data to generate new insights in the portfolio performance and pricing analyses. In this role, you will report to the Head of Pricing for Property and Energy & Construction and provide support on pricing topics to the line of business. You will take ownership of relationships and projects, and take an active part in guiding and steering the performance of the portfolios and as part of that will inform appropriate pricing strategies to enable AGCS to meet long-term profit targets. You will provide advice and tools that enable execution of these strategies and support in the monitoring of outcomes.




In this role you will…

•    Carry out deep-dive profitability reviews. This will involve preparation of the data and analysis of the profitability of individual accounts and/or business segments, as required 
•    Ensure that the results of such analyses lead to meaningful portfolio actions and are reflected in the technical pricing models as appropriate
•    Monitor outcomes of the portfolio actions implemented following profitability analyses
•    Develop and maintain pricing tools, in particular, this involves the refinement of the tools through recalibrations and the development of appropriate statistical pricing methodologies
•    Establish an excellent working relationship with the Underwriting teams to ensure their long-term support for technical pricing concepts and pricing tools 
•    Undertake experience-based case pricing of relevant accounts, collaborating with underwriters and other stakeholder from data gathering through to communication of results
•    Support projects which affect the use of technical pricing and promote the use of technical pricing at AGCS
•    Contribute to the development of relevant Pricing processes
•    Successfully collaborate across the Global Pricing team and all AGCS departments
•    Understand market developments globally and ensure that loss trends are understood and reflected in our pricing activities 
•    Support the technical and professional development of actuarial students and other members of the team, including overseeing their work on projects related to the tasks above


To be successful in the role:


You will have…


•    A qualification as P&C Actuary with 5-10 years of relevant experience. Strong mathematical and analytical skills with great attention to detail
•    In depth knowledge of P&C insurance spanning multiple types and lines of business, including commercial and ideally large corporate and specialty lines
•    Proven track-record of delivering strategic insights and recommendations based on quantitative and qualitative analysis, preferably in an underwriting setting
•    Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret data and analytical results, and to then communicate this to audiences with differing levels of technical understanding

Ideally you will also have…


•    Experience in pricing a variety of risks based on experience and exposure metrics, using a range of statistical methods and approaches
•    Experienced in the development of strong end to end solutions, all the way through from problem definition to full analysis to development of actionable recommendations
•    Experience in an international working environment. Experience of working with colleagues located in different countries an advantage
•    Collaborative approach to working relationships with proven ability in building broad consensus and momentum for cross function projects
