Main Purpose of the Job:


Allianz Global Life dac (“AGL”) is a rapidly growing cross-border life insurer with products sold into the French, Italian and German markets, and, more recently Greek, Lithuanian, Belgian and Icelandic markets. It also reinsures a portfolio of variable annuities sold in Taiwan and Japan. Its goal is to expand into other markets over the coming years, while also continuing to expand its product range. It currently writes unit linked, variable annuity and protection business.


AGL also provides, amongst others, risk and actuarial services to another Allianz Group company, Darta Savings Life Assurance (“Darta”), which underwrites predominantly unit-linked business and is co-located with AGL.


A vacancy has arisen for a nearly/newly qualified actuary to support AGL’s Actuarial Function capabilities across all product lines.


Key Performance Measures:


Responsibilities may include some or all of the following:


  • Support the preparation of regulatory reports and opinions from the actuarial function.
  • Support the preparation of experience investigations and actuarial assumption setting.
  • Assist in reviewing and updating actuarial function related documents, e.g. policies.
  • Support the preparation of actuarial material and slides for management and committee meetings.
  • Assist in developing, checking and streamlining actuarial models and processes.
  • Provide support on various project initiatives, reviews and validations.
  • Production and validation of actuarial reserves for IFRS, IFRS17 and SII in relation to deliverables above.

Decision Making Authority: As delegated by the Head of Actuarial Function.


Key Customers:


Internal: AGL Senior Management (Head of Actuarial Function, CRO, CFO).

External: Allianz Group, CBI.


Business Competencies


Education and Qualifications:

Nearly/newly-qualified actuary.


Professional Competence:

Financial reporting experience required (SII, IFRS and USGAAP).

Experience working in the life insurance industry, ideally in a cross-border company.

Actuarial modelling experience required.


Product & Technical Knowledge:

Knowledge of unit-linked and protection products required (variable annuity desirable).


Commercial Awareness:

An understanding of key profit drivers and strategic levers for the Life Assurance business.
