We are looking for an Internal Communications Manager. This position will work a hybrid schedule based in our New York City office.

Press & Media is the arm and voice of Allianz Commercial (AzC). The Communications Team is a center of excellence and critical in building AzC’s narrative and reputation.

The Impact You Will Have
Reporting to the Regional Head of Communication, this role is a specialist Communications role with a regional coordination and execution responsibility for North American internal communications (IC) activities. This role is responsible for delivering a broad spectrum of IC activities: helping to plan and implement IC strategy and projects across the region, working in close liaison with regional leadership and Global Communications. Accountable for monitoring IC relevant topics across the regional organization, establishing modern mechanisms for dialogue and engagement with internal stakeholders and hands-on responsibility for implementation; supports the regional lead on IC for change scenarios and projects; helps ensure consistent quality of IC across the region, maintains core activities and deliverables to high standards; plays an active part in global projects and initiatives as a regional IC representative.
Some of your specific responsibilities could include:
- Working under leadership of the regional Head of Communications, and with other stakeholders, takes responsibility for coordination, support and delivery of internal communications activities across Allianz Commercial NA, individually or in coordination with other team members (local and global) such as communications planning and projects, change project communications, news/announcements and briefing notes and other newsletters as required, proactive development of consistent messaging and topics for internal use, copywriting and drafting communications, EMT support for management communications, regional Intranet.
- Alongside the above responsibilities, the role will also support and contribute to Global Communications team activities on occasion, such as change communications, Intranet development and internal digital communications (incl. social media).
- Active engagement and liaison with IC related stakeholders: managers, staff, departments such as HR (mainly at regional level but including international where relevant). Staff liaison and feedback (2-way communications), including coordination of activities to obtain regular bottom-up feedback from employees to help steer communications. Working with external agencies (if necessary) to support internal communications projects/materials.
- Limited travel within US and Canada to Allianz Commercial offices and events.
What You’ll Bring to the Role –
- A minimum 5 years’ strong communications track record with a practical focus on applied internal or change communications.
- Services or B2B background preferred – experience of insurance not essential, although this would be beneficial.
- Experience working in a matrix structure. Demonstrable experience of external communications is valuable. Digital communications experience and awareness is valuable.
- Bachelor's Degree or postgraduate qualification in Journalism, communications or business. And a professional communications qualification highly desirable.
- Knowledge of theoretical and operational principles and techniques of internal communications including in change environments, and of traditional and digital channels. Journalistic skills for internal comms situations to include copywriting, information research and analysis, storytelling, ability to work accurately to tight deadlines.
- Experience with and knowledge of communication software and analytics tools. Competence with MS Word and PowerPoint and MS Excel. Use of Photoshop, InDesign and handling of online Content Management tools (intranet/website).
- Communication, presentation and relationship management skills. Ability to remain calm and measured in stressful scenarios, including crisis situations. Ability to prioritize and structure a high workload, identify key issues and work unsupervised to deadlines in a fast-changing environment. Inter-personal skills, including ability to understand others’ perspectives and agendas.
The annualized base pay range for this role is $90,109 to $154,473. The annual base salary range represents a nationwide market range. The actual salary for this position may be above and will be determined by several factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role, the skills, education, training, credentials, and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the AzC total compensation package. As part of our comprehensive compensation and highly rated benefits programs, employees are also eligible for annual performance-based cash incentive awards.
