We are looking for an Underwriting Manager/ Chief Underwriter (m/f/d), based in Munich.
 
Your Team 
Our seasoned team takes ownership of top key accounts and clients, skillfully navigating through complex negotiations to ensure optimal participation, pricing, and terms and conditions. You will work in a team of highly experienced and motivated Underwriters with a great team spirit. The team is always open to support and learn from each other.  

The Impact You Will Have 
Reporting to the Head of Underwriting Natural Resources as an Underwriting Manager, you will be responsible for underwriting large and complex profitable business, owning top key accounts/clients with a focus on complex negotiation, developing and maintaining strong relationships with critical brokers and clients, and managing a team of underwriters.

Some of your specific responsibilities could include:

• Execute Underwriting Strategy, act as an expert for Conventional Power and Green Energy for Line of Business (LoB), and contribute to strategic decisions by providing input to existing strategy or developing new strategies.
• Underwrite Profitable Business with in-depth knowledge of Line of Business, actively negotiating complex pricing and terms with brokers, and proactively managing capacity to meet top and bottom line targets for large complex new and renewal accounts.
• Ensure Underwriting Approach and Compliance by adhering to Line of Business governance framework, proposing optimal portfolio structure, and anticipating portfolio development trends.
• Manage Policy Documentation and Administration, ensuring accurate policy documentation is issued to brokers or maintaining files for each risk and transaction handled, while proactively supporting completion of policy administration and credit control processes.
• Drive Market Management & Leadership by actively acquiring new business, retaining existing business, and leading market management initiatives, while mentoring senior underwriters and managing referrals for complex business.
• Foster Relationship Management by positively representing Allianz Commercial externally, driving involvement of functional areas in the underwriting process, and developing and maintaining strong relationships with critical brokers, clients, and other relevant stakeholders.
• Effectively lead your Underwriting team.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

• Significant experience underwriting profitable cross boarder Conventional Power and Green Energy business 
• Advanced risk assessment and management abilities, with expertise in pricing and market management, contract drafting and interpretation, and policy management
• Excellent communication skills, with proficiency in both written and spoken English
• Advanced influencing skills, with the ability to persuade and motivate others to act, without executive authority
• Advanced analytical skills, including the ability to effectively absorb information from various sources, analyze data in detail, and draw appropriate conclusions.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills in German and English 
• In-depth understanding of regional/local insurance markets and competitor landscape, including significant global elements.
