Job Purpose/Role

The Group Accounting Policy Department (Group APD) sets accounting policies that comply with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) as well as Solvency II requirements (MVBS) for the Allianz Group and is responsible for analyzing and determining the appropriate accounting for large, complex transactions as well as the implementation of new international accounting standards.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide IFRS and MVBS guidance to Allianz Group entities worldwide and Group Center management with a focus on general accounting topics, including but not limited to, software accounting (IAS 38 and IAS 16), restructuring (IAS 37) as well as assessing the appropriate inclusion method (IFRS 10 and IAS 28) and P-GAAP analysis (IFRS 3).
  • Interface with Allianz Group Senior Management as well as our external auditor on accounting matters and significant transactions.
  • Support the implementation of new IFRS accounting standards; monitor emerging accounting issues and research the impact of proposed changes.
  • Support the Group-wide training program; give presentations on other specific accounting and related industry topics at meetings, seminars, programs or external conferences, which may require occasional international travel.
  • Work closely with our Group APD Outposts, a group of 40 business and accounting professionals from all major Allianz Group entities.
  • Participate in the work of national and international committees and associations in relation to accounting policy; e.g. prepare comment letters for the IASB.                                                                                         

 

Qualification

  • University degree in accounting, economics or related field
  • Additional academic/professional qualifications (e.g. PhD, MBA, WP, StB, CPA, CFA) a plus
  • Fluent in Business English, written and spoken (no German skills required)

 

Experience & Key Skills

  • Deep IFRS accounting knowledge and relevant professional experience
  • Previous employment within an accounting policy function of a large corporate or with a Big 4 company is a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Very good analytical skills
  • Highly organized and risk oriented approach
  • High motivation and ability to work efficiently and independently
  • Conflict management skills
