Job Purpose / Role


Based in London and reporting directly to the global Head of Business Partnering Marine and Aviation -  in Global Performance Steering: GPS - you will be a partner to the Regional Unit London Lines of Business Heads, supporting their understanding of monthly results and providing quality and forward-thinking analyses to support business steering and monitoring in respect of overall financial performance. The position provides comprehensive insights into the LoBs’ financials and strategy and supports the respective business leaders.


You will play a key role in building bridges between Finance and Underwriting departments as well as sharing best practice within Global Performance Steering (GPS) and the wider finance community.

We have a temporary need due to the maternity leave of one of our team members, but the global department is reorganising at the moment and it is likely that we will have a permanent opening in time.


Key Responsibilities

In this role you will:

  • Provide analysis and presentation for your area of responsibility, identify key drivers, risks and opportunities and provide recommendations
  • Present conclusions in a transparent way with robust financial commentary to enable decision-making
  • Consider both cash and P&L perspectives where applicable
  • Manage regular reporting, forecasting and planning processes, in line with both customer and global requirements
  • Manage “business as usual” tasks in own area of responsibility (eg. customer requests, target achievement calculations)
  • Drive best-practice sharing, efficiency increases, global standard setting and harmonization
  • Align and coordinate your area of responsibility with other finance colleagues
  • Collaborate across functions in the wider business to enhance overall understanding
  • Find opportunities to improve and streamline processes
  • Coordinate global processes
  • Be involved in planning cycles, highlighting risks or opportunities as they arise
  • Support the business to steer their areas of responsibility, with a strong focus on cost topics
  • Participate in projects and implement initiatives as required


Key Requirements/Skills/Experience

  • Excellent tertiary qualification (ideally Masters), preferably in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Mathematics. Ideally with a CIMA qualification.
  • 2/3 years’ previous experience in a highly analytical role
  • Proven experience in planning and performance management of financial statements and financial analysis
  • Proven experience in communicating results to a variety of stakeholders
  • Project and team work in an international and dynamic environment
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills, and knowledge of reporting tools such as SAP and Cognos would be an advantage
  • You understand insurance financial statements and their performance measurement
  • You are able to identify patterns and root causes in complex data and processes, to deduce key issues rapidly and provide insight in various situations
  • You identify and initiate appropriate actions to remediate issues and follow through to a solution
  • You have excellent communication skills, being able to understand and convey information in English clearly and effectively, adapting to your audience
