Job Purpose/Role

 

An exciting new role Based in London or working from home and reporting directly to the UK Property Risk Consulting Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Improving and developing digital risk solutions, risk assessments, portfolio analytics, implementation of new technology tools, data sourcing (internal and external), creating data pipelines, and data modelling etc.
  • Providing property related Risk Consulting Services and/or Client Account Engineering management together with client and underwriter support, by conducting on-site client risk engineering visits to various locations (Training can be provided, but some insurance experience would be of benefit.).
  • At all times maintain professional working relationships with Clients, Underwriting, Market Management, Claims, Global Data Office and Brokers etc.

 

Key Responsibilities

In this role you will…

 

  • Complete desk top reviews and risk assessments for underwriting, evaluating and summarising exposures and controls. Apply data analytics and machine learning techniques where applicable to improve the accuracy, quality, and breadth of client risk information.
  • Offer Consulting Services: work with underwriting, claims, clients, and brokers where appropriate to develop customised client loss control programmes, including the use of remote technology tools for surveys and scoping the cost of delivering risk consulting services. Adopt data analytics to mine and evaluate industry sector (internal and external) loss experience for various industry sectors etc. to identify client hazards and risk drivers
  • Manage clients risk engineering portfolios in line with Allianz procedures, and set the strategy to deliver maximum benefit to clients and underwriters. Use global matrix management to deliver and monitor the engineering services, and data analytics to enhance the credibility of client risk presentations etc.
  • Survey client operations, obtain appropriate data (both directly and externally), identify and model hazards, and discuss findings with appropriate parties. Generate loss control reports, recommendations etc.
  • Appoint / monitor 3rd-party risk consulting services ensuring adequate contract / controls in place with budgets agreed up front. Check and ensure quality of work provided by 3rd parties
  • Assist the AGCS Global Data Office and Head of Underwriting Excellence to improve existing systems and support clients with respect to ongoing or specific projects. Support data driven technical training presentations for internal and external clients as required and appropriate
  • Actively support continual client service improvement, develop new data analytics, and contribute to management strategy aimed at improving working practices, risk quality and new concepts to benefit clients and underwriting.

 

Key Requirements/Skills/Expertise

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Data Analytics, or similar in conjunction with engineering / technical experience
  • At least 5 years’ experience in IT and / or Data focussed role ideally in the Property or Casualty insurance industry
  • Sound knowledge of SQL, Excel / Access, experience of Data Warehouses, and the ability to mine, collect, analyse, model and interpret data
  • A “nice to have” is experience in programming languages for statistical analysis e.g. Python,  data modelling, machine learning and data science
  • While experience in property loss control is not a must, the willingness to learn and become certified is essential
  • Strong communication skills in English and the ability to express ideas and messages clearly, both written and verbally
  • Self-starter, being able to develop and implement value driven data initiatives with minimum input from Management
  • Strategic mind-set and future focussed
  • Experience working in a complex global matrix organisation and excellent team spirit
  • Able to travel on a regular basis, mostly within the UK but some international trips
