We are looking for you! We are currently hiring a forward-thinking and results-oriented Specialist Alternatives Operations (f/m/d). This position will be based in our Frankfurt office.

 

Key challenge of this role is to further develop a productive setup with the relevant investment teams on the one hand and our service providers on the other hand. The successful candidate will lead and supervise the operational activities for Alternatives transactions, payment handling and as a potential further area oversight of fund accounting and custody for our alternative fund ranges. The right candidate has a good mix of process improvement skills, understanding of digital solutions from a business perspective as well as of managing internal and external partners. You will be encouraged to initiate and develop new ideas to develop the complete international team further.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Support the onboarding process of new products from the operational side
  • Establish standard methodologies for alternative investment transactions and funds with a focus on time to market and standardization for custody / depositary and fund administration oversight
  • Be the responsible party for operational day-to-day activities e.g. transaction-related activities, support for cash management, invoices, draw downs, support for reporting, query management and potentially fund accounting oversight
  • Run and maintain processes, procedures and related operating memorandum / service level agreements
  • Provide input for the oversight on the provider performance with a strong focus on critical metrics and improvement of operational stability
  • Collaborate indirectly or directly with investment manager teams, other members of the Alternatives Operations department and other internal/external interfaces (e.g. product development, client managers, tax, legal)
  • Apply a proactive partner management between the service providers and the internal teams (e.g. management of critical issues)
  • Ensure attention to improve and harmonize the alternative investment operating model with a focus on transactions and to a certain extent fund accounting and custody/depositary oversight

 

Key Requirements/Skills/Experience

 

  • University degree in business administration, finance, or equivalent
  • Ideally 2+ years of working experience in either the asset management industry (i.e. ManCo, AIFM, Service provider) or within pure play Alternatives firms with particular emphasis on transaction support, handling of payments or fund accounting, financial/regulatory reporting and custody/depositary
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of the Illiquid Alternatives industry and related operational topics and challenges with investment strategies such as Infrastructure Equity/Debt, PE, RE, FoF, Renewables and within areas such as transactions but ideally also from a fund / vehicle perspective
  • Experience and high motivation to automate and streamline processes and tasks by using programming languages and various tools (e.g. VBA / Macros, PowerAutomate, Python) and to also document process workflows in e.g. Visio is preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the talent to build positive relationships, internally and externally
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong analytical skills with a high level of accuracy and keen attention to detail
  • High motivation to independently develop creative and targeted solutions
  • Fluency in both written and spoken German and English, any other language such as French would be a plus
