Job Purpose/Role
This position will be responsible for technical accounting operations and collateral management, including accounting, settlement, and credit control activities, primarily related to reinsurance and co-insurance activities. This position will also be responsible for developing and monitoring reinsurance completeness and accuracy controls on assigned reinsurance and co-insurance activity booked.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform accounting and settlement of transactional activities for assumed and ceded facultative reinsurance payables and recoverables.
  • Work collaboratively with other Functional areas (Operations, Accounting, Claims) and other AGCS branch finance teams in establishing reinsurance processes, booking flows and accuracy completeness controls.
  • Monitor credit control activities which drives collateral requirements for Schedule F.
  • Drive both global and local initiatives as defined during annual priority setting as a subject matter expert, including testing of new systems for completeness, accuracy and functionality.
  • Assist outside Auditors (PWC) with required sample testing and data gathering.
  • Other assigned projects as required.


Key Requirements/Skills/Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years’ Insurance accounting and reporting experience;
  • Business process and internal control experience;
  • Experience working in an international organization preferred;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of local GAAP, IAS, IFRS, Regulatory, Tax and other relevant requirements (such as interpretation of treaties and contracts);
  • Process improvement through innovation (understanding, documenting process flows, root cause analysis, action plans, OPEX/Six Sigma, RPA, Automation, and redesign);
  • Project Management skills (Lean Management/Agile Projects);
  • Performance measurement, including drivers and being able to perform financial statement analysis (e.g., reading a P&L and Balance sheet, Ratio Analysis, capital management, lines of business), underwriting andc laims functions;
  • Advanced Office skills including Excel, Access, and PowerPoint to effectively analyze data and clearly convey messages;
  • Proficiency using specific systems (e.g., SAP, Business Warehouse);
  • Experience digitizing accounting processes (data architecture, explain accounting needs to third parties, recognizing potential from digital customer journeys, and understanding and conceptualizing dataanalytics);
  • Understand, elaborate and convey information clearly and effectively with respect to the audience/level of management (both verbally and in writing);
  • Identify patterns and root causes in complex data and processes to rapidly distill key issues and provide insight in various situations;
  • Identify and initiate appropriate actions to remediate issues that can be abstract/ambiguous and follow through on their remediation;
  • Ability to work across teams (in and outside of CFO) and in virtual teams and the ability to supervise and coordinate near- and offshore teams without authority;
  • Ability to influence with and without authority;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business; and
  • CPA Preferred, but not required.
