Premium Audit Specialist-(Remote West Zone)

Performs audit functions for all audit types regardless of size or complexity. Works independently and is capable to make sound business decisions with little direct supervision. In addition, may provide audit input and support services for regional program management (Group development and maintenance), Entertainment and individual risk underwriting. As requested, will utilize deep industry knowledge, expertise and experience to support Industry development activities. Provides technical assistance to less experienced auditors. May have audit file quality review and other lead responsibilities as assigned. Performs special audit assignments/projects as required.

## Provide and analyze financial and operational information which supports the writing, pricing and retention of profitable business. Determines earned premium on casualty coverages and other auditable exposures.~crlf~## Conducts physical audits: Examines primary and secondary source records and documents and determines which are necessary to accurately audit the operations. Interviews and observes the operations of the insured. Documents the classification, operations and ownership of each named insured. Confirms all locations. Validates workers' compensation claims coding. Classifies and secures the basis of premium for each insured audited. Adheres to state filings, DOI and Bureau requirements.~crlf~## Works with underwriting at policy quote, issue, mid-term and expiration to determine adequacy of premium deposits and accuracy of classifications, locations, operations and named insured's, as requested. ~crlf~Determines if employer/employee relationship exits on risks which employ independent contractors and makes the appropriate premium charges.~crlf~Determines and reports on risk exposures which are not shown under the policy contract and makes coverage and premium charges as required.~crlf~## Recommends to underwriting termination of coverage or corrective action to be taken if insured's records are inadequate, the financial situation is unsatisfactory, the insured's premises are unsatisfactory, or the insured is uncooperative.~crlf~Provides classification assurance on policies through the use of pre-quote and pre-audit surveys as requested.~crlf~Resolves audited earned premium discrepancies and other premium audit related disputes with insured, agents, underwriting and collections department.~crlf~Recommends to underwriting termination of coverage or corrective action to be taken if insured's records are inadequate, the financial situation is unsatisfactory, the insured's premises are unsatisfactory, or the insured is uncooperative.~crlf~Provides classification assurance on policies through the use of pre-quote and pre-audit surveys as requested.~crlf~Resolves audited earned premium discrepancies and other premium audit related disputes with insured, agents, underwriting and collections department.~crlf~## Manages all aspects of fee company work from assignment to bill payment, and dispute resolution if required.~crlf~Conducts technical file reviews on nationwide field auditors. Provides feedback to employees and leadership on specific educational opportunities to improve individual and team quality.~crlf~~crlf~

##7-10 years of experience with previous premium audit experience.~crlf~## B.S. or B.A. degree in Accounting or Finance desired.~crlf~## Twelve semester hours or 18-quarter hours of Accounting and Financial Analysis at the college level required. ~crlf~## CPCU and/or Associate in Premium Auditing (APA) desired~crlf~## Knowledge of audit techniques and principles; insurance principles, coverages and classifications for workers' compensation, general liability and automobile lines of business.~crlf~## Knowledge of financial ratios, accounting records and their relationship. Ability to resolve test audit differences.~crlf~## Specialized knowledge of specific lines of business or business operations (e.g., entertainment, manufacturers, etc.)/ national/local target industries and programs.~crlf~## Proficient in use and application of desktop computer applications; i.e., Microsoft Suite.~crlf~## Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks~crlf~## Ability to work remotely and with minimal supervision.~crlf~## Potential for overnight travel~crlf~## Required to possess a valid state driver's license~crlf~~crlf~

This position can be based remotely in Western US states, preferably Southern California.
