This position can be in Minneapolis, MN, Edison, NJ area or Tempe/Phoenix, AZ.~crlf~~crlf~Allianz Technology is in the process of transforming Data Center Services (DCS) Facilities, physical to a virtual, centralized Facility Services and Hybrid-cloud for their North America Data Centers. This transformation is being done concurrently for multiple Operating Entities that currently manage their computing environments separately. This is a multi-million dollar, multi-year initiative is in North America, based on architecture, standards, and project methodology developed by colleagues in our European Region, and in conjunction with our third party strategic service provider.~crlf~As one of the senior-most subject matter experts on technology, this person will help lead and manage Allianz (N. America) Data Center Service “Facility” engineering and operations activity. The individual will also maintain a consultative relationship with the Global Allianz leadership teams.~crlf~Reporting to North America Data Center Service Facilities Manager the Data Center Architect will be knowledgeable about the specific requirements of Allianz’s entire infrastructure. This individual will also take into consideration various needs that the company might have including power, cooling, location, available utilities, and even pricing. ~crlf~The Data Center Architect will also be responsible for the physical and logistical layout of the resources and equipment within a data center facility. As critical aspect of the individual’s duties, they will specify where and how the server, storage network, racks, and other data center resources are physically racked, stacked and cabled. They are intimately involved in interconnecting the resources/devices and arrangement of physical and logical security workflows.~crlf~They should play an active role in validating the technical requirements and associated architecture. They also must liaison with external suppliers to understand how certain solutions can be incorporated. They should work in collaboration with the other departments to develop proposals and high-level data center designs.

The key objectives of this role include:~crlf~~crlf~• Will justify the costs of controversial budget issues, such as space allocation, power, and other factors. They typically ~crlf~• Will oversee not only the servers, storage, and network but also the security, power, and cooling for the data center. ~crlf~• Will defend the need for setting green data centers.~crlf~• Responsible for adequately securing the Data Center and should examine factors such as facility design and architecture. ~crlf~• The architect must demonstrate the capacity to develop a robust network, server and storage architecture. ~crlf~• Must also play an active role in the manageability and operations of the data center.~crlf~• Will have complex responsibilities including security, space, power and cooling requirements. ~crlf~• Play a critical role in the data center capacity planning and must also manage disaster recovery plans.~crlf~• Must be able to have flexibility to work off-hours and on-call during evenings and weekends~crlf~• Must be available to travel for work in an out of state data center periodically~crlf~• Basic technical knowledge of IT products and technologies.~crlf~• Excellent written & verbal communication skills.~crlf~• Document and review processes and procedures, integrate into daily activities~crlf~• Ability to act rapidly and logically under pressure, make effective use of others in resolving problems and resolve hardware issues from incident tickets independently~crlf~• Customer and service focused, with determination to meet business needs~crlf~• Layer 1 and 2 troubleshooting of various data center hardware and equipment~crlf~• Provide hands-on support for equipment, assisting off-site and/or off-shore engineers~crlf~• Evaluate and recommend new infrastructure solutions for racking, cabling and various facility needs~crlf~• Provide backup to Data Center Manager and other facilities staff when needed~crlf~~crlf~~crlf~Data Center Installs~crlf~~crlf~• Knowledge of network cabling standards (TIA/EIA) and installing structured cabling~crlf~• Familiar with the installation of different types of equipment (Cisco, Dell, Sonic Wall, eg. SUN, HP, IBM etc*) within a data center environment, including unpacking, racking, cabling and initial power-up duties~crlf~• Familiar with the de-installation of all data center equipment, including unracking, removing cabling, documentation of the process~crlf~• Familiarity with Server Operating Systems, Server and Network hardware~crlf~• Planning and build out of existing facilities, based on project requirements~crlf~• Knowledge of installing server and network racks, PDUs and miscellaneous hardware needed for equipment installations~crlf~• Knowledge of calculating power requirements for correct rack/power sizing for all new equipment~crlf~• Basic understanding of all different types of power circuits, amps, voltages, single/3-phase power~crlf~• Familiarity with wireless network and IP phone system installations~crlf~• Ordering of supplies needed for Data Center installations – copper, fiber, miscellaneous server hardware, power circuits~crlf~• Familiarity with DoD standards for disk destruction~crlf~• Understanding of interconnecting Cisco networks (Nexus) and SAN networks (including Cisco fabric and EMC, IBM and PureStorage disk arrays)~crlf~• Able to lift 50+ lbs to rack mount devices in systems cabinets/racks~crlf~• Ability to bend, stretch and climb to run cabling both overhead and under floor~crlf~~crlf~

Undergraduate degree in Information Technology field with 10 years’ experience in Data Center Facilities and Infrastructure Architecture.~crlf~~crlf~Typically, data center architecture consists of or incorporates:~crlf~• Data center network architecture~crlf~• Data center computing architecture~crlf~• Data center security architecture~crlf~• Data center physical architecture~crlf~• Data center information architecture~crlf~• Cloud and Hybrid Cloud services and solutions ~crlf~~crlf~Required Skills:~crlf~• Experience with Configuration, Asset, Change, Problem, and Incident management~crlf~• Understanding of Data Center Mechanical and Electrical infrastructure: Power, HVAC, Generators, UPS, PDUs, etc.~crlf~• Contact and provide work direction for electrical, mechanical and low voltage contractors~crlf~• 30% travel~crlf~
