Head of Risk Management, North America Region
The Regional Head of Risk is responsible and accountable for managing the Risk Management function within the North America region, encompassing both Canada and the US. The regional risk function must provide seamless delivery support for all Risk Management activities, including Product, Operational, Internal Controls, Strategic and Reputational risks. This position will be required to work closely with the Global Risk Function, in collaboration with sister functions (Audit, Compliance, Actuarial) and with first line of defense functions to ensure that the processes are effectively integrated within Allianz Partners methodology.
##Manage the Regional Risk Management function to support the organization’s compliance with requirements and obligations. ~crlf~~crlf~In collaboration with Global Risk Management, for the Region:~crlf~##Development and establishment of documentation, as well as implementation and management of the Risk Framework (polices standards, guidelines and rules). ~crlf~##Overall facilitation of the Risk Management process and provision of Risk Management delivery support (this includes among others, the Top Risk Assessment and Internal Control Framework) ~crlf~##Develop and maintain the risk governance arrangements, including governance and risk tolerance and appetite approach on existing and emerging risks~crlf~##Develop the Risk Management culture to support the implementation and effective operation of Risk Management. ~crlf~##Develop and provide management reports and dashboards to monitor identified key risks and measure progress toward implementing effective programs and controls~crlf~##Ensure that the Risk Management Frameworks remain fit for purpose and aligned with international standards and best practice~crlf~##Manage the Internal control review and testing practices for the region.~crlf~##Contribute to Global Risk initiatives~crlf~##Ensure that the priority risks are brought to the attention of Senior Management of the Region and that appropriate mitigation actions are initiated and develop consistent reports for the relevant Board of Directors and Regional Risk Committee.~crlf~##Accurate and timely reporting of risks and requirements to all levels within the business and externally;~crlf~##Ensure that all Risk Management reports (formal monthly updates and reports) are accurate and contain up to date information and are tailored to the intended audience.~crlf~~crlf~People Management Responsibility:~crlf~##Recruitment and staffing of the Regional Risk Management function~crlf~##Effectively manage direct reports to optimize department performance in support of corporate objectives by setting individual targets, developing and motivating staff, and providing formal and informal feedback and appraisal~crlf~##Develop capabilities of Risk Management functions in the Region in support of the company’s strategy and other corporate objectives~crlf~~crlf~Stakeholder Engagement Responsibility:~crlf~##Practice and encourage open and effective communication internally and externally in order to build and nurture effective working relationships~crlf~##Develop an engaged Regional Risk Management community to ensure the processes are aligned with business needs and integrated within the organization.~crlf~##The Regional Risk Management shall be required to develop and maintain effective working relations with internal and external parties, including but not limited to Senior Management, extensive cross-functional interfaces, auditors, to ensure that the Regional Risk Management Framework continues to be effective~crlf~~crlf~
##Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field or equivalent combination of work and education experience. ~crlf~##Seven (7) to Ten (10) years’ experience in risk management, project management or audit / internal controls in the insurance or service sector industries.~crlf~##Management experience required.~crlf~##Detailed understanding and knowledge of best practices and trends in risk management.~crlf~##Excellent problem solving, judgment and analytical abilities.~crlf~##Have a strong professional presence, interacting effectively with management teams and executive leadership.~crlf~##Strong IT user skills, very good user knowledge of Microsoft (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)~crlf~##Fluency in English~crlf~##Team player, excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a multi-cultural, International and matrix organization.~crlf~##Ideally, qualified candidates will have a Risk Management accreditation or Accounting qualification.~crlf~##Position is expected to travel approximately 10% to 20% of time.
