  • Job Purpose/ Role

    Responsible for the Management of processes related to the Accounting function for all U.S. group companies. Ensure general ledger activity and history is accurate, timely prepared, and reconciled. Provide management and guidance over the contract compliance, fixed asset and key control processes and recommend/implement efficiency improvements wherever possible.

  • Key Responsibilities

    Regular, predictable, reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.~crlf~Key responsibilities which take no less than 10% of overall job time:~crlf~##Prepare and deliver periodic training and support to other finance associates.~crlf~##Serve as a mentor by providing coaching, career development, and inter-departmental relationship management for the team. ~crlf~##Oversee corporate and departmental accounting functions for all U.S. group companies.~crlf~##Stay current and apply US GAAP, IFRS and NAIC Statutory accounting standards as required.~crlf~##Laisse with Tax team and stay up to date on applicable tax codes, share updates with associates.~crlf~##Develop and deploy solutions to contract management and new accounting guidance.~crlf~##Provide guidance and support to senior and staff accounting associates.~crlf~##Report monthly and quarterly financial results to parent company and respond to inquiries.~crlf~##Review detailed coding of AP, AR and other journal entries to ensure accuracy.~crlf~##Lead monthly general ledger closing process through to Group reporting.~crlf~##Responsible for oversight of general ledger account reconciliations and controls.~crlf~##Review monthly journal entries related to payroll, service fees, accruals and other for GL entry.~crlf~##Assist in monthly financial statement generation and distribution.~crlf~##Prepare documentation for end of year audit; respond to questions during audit process.~crlf~##Compliance with financial and statutory accounting principles and NY State Insurance Law.~crlf~##Monitor internal control over financial reporting and identify opportunities for improvements.~crlf~##Assist in deployment of Group and Local accounting policies and procedures.~crlf~##Prepare and/or review periodic financial statements and supporting documentation/schedules.~crlf~##Provide support to internal and external audit efforts, including regulatory comment letters.~crlf~##Prepare and/or review financial statement analysis of key variances and KPIs.~crlf~##Prepare support and deliver periodic training to finance accounting team associates. ~crlf~##May perform other duties as assigned.

  • Key Requirements/ Skills

    ##Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. ~crlf~##Combined Five (5) years general accounting, reporting and/or public audit experience.~crlf~##Experience in the insurance/service industry preferred, CPA license required

    Travel Requirements: Position may be expected to travel 5% of time.
