The Vice President, Application Development is responsible for setting the vision and direction to enable the enterprise to achieve strategic technology and business objectives through the deployment and maintenance of critical business applications. ~crlf~~crlf~This role champions application development best practice and strategy within IT, is an advocate for the application teams and accountable for maintaining an environment that attracts and retains top technical talent. In addition, this role is accountable for overseeing the IT Project Management organization to ensure successful delivery of projects of varying scope and complexity. This is a key member of the IT Senior Leadership Team, and must be able to effectively collaborate across the departments within IT, business partners across the enterprise, internal and external vendor partners and other Allianz entities around the globe.

This role will ensure an efficient and supportable application landscape to match business and technical architectures, drive development and support efficiency, and ensure a stable application portfolio for the enterprise. This individual provides leadership, vision, and direction for the application development organization, ensuring support of the company’s business objectives and requirements while providing innovation ideas and strategies as part of overall delivery objectives.~crlf~~crlf~Specific roles will be shaped by the VP AD including: • Product Systems, Marketing and Interactive Systems, Distribution Systems, and Innovation Services. ~crlf~~crlf~Maintain audit and controls oversight as needed, IT resource management, employee feedback, training and development, industry information and benchmarking, quality control and project management framework and methodology.~crlf~~crlf~

• Develop an overarching application development strategy maintaining close alignment to and support of strategic business objectives that maintains a well-considered balance between Allianz Group objectives and Allianz Life priorities~crlf~• Lead development of solutions to complex business problems while driving innovation and ensuring consistent incorporation and application of best practices~crlf~• Lead business and technical teams to ensure all projects meet strategic objectives, utilizing both Waterfall and Agile methodologies as is most appropriate to the initiative, and adhere to a well-defined software development life-cycle (SDLC)~crlf~• Partner closely with peers and colleagues globally in development and execution of enterprise technology, knowledge and information management strategy. Remain current in new and emerging technologies and platforms~crlf~• Establish and maintain a high level of client trust and confidence in the team's knowledge of and concern for, clients' business issues. Provide a communicable and transparent view of business demand, and resource supply~crlf~• Foster a healthy working environment and a culture of excellence in support of Allianz Life IT, focused on attracting, developing and retaining employees with the skills necessary to meet current and future business and technology needs~crlf~• Create and maintain a point of view on necessary skills mix, onshore vs. offshore, cross-training and succession planning throughout the development organization ~crlf~• Maintain financial accountability at both the project and the overall portfolio level~crlf~• 11+ years of experience required, preferably leading the application development function within an insurance or financial services firm~crlf~• Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline is required; Master’s degree preferred~crlf~• Experience or familiarity with Annuities and other financial products~crlf~• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship for employment visa (work authorization) status. ~crlf~
