  • Job Purpose/ Role

    • This Allianz Investment Management (AIM) role will primarily help develop and steer implementation of a liability driven asset allocation process using both affiliated and nonaffiliated asset managers. The focus will be on the strategic asset allocation process for both life insurance and P&C company portfolios. Includes analysis, design and improvement of current asset allocation process, improving fixed income index selection and customization, and monitoring and analyzing the portfolio vs the benchmark.~crlf~• Responsibilities will include monitoring and analyzing the credit profile of the portfolios including researching sectors that offer value, research on individual names that require elevated monitoring and ad hoc credit research and analysis.~crlf~• Work with ALM team to ensure the asset allocation is appropriate for the liabilities it supports~crlf~• Work with asset managers to ensure proper implementation of approved asset allocation and monitor credits as needed. ~crlf~• Work with risk management to ensure the portfolio meets risk limits and is implemented in a capital efficient way. ~crlf~• Challenging the status quo and improving the company are expected.~crlf~• As part of the global financial services group of Allianz SE, you will also have the opportunity to work and partner with international colleagues within AIM SE.

  • Key Responsibilities

    • Design and manage the asset allocation process for various insurance company portfolios.~crlf~• Customize benchmarks to meet the needs of the liability driven allocation~crlf~• Conduct analysis and investigate solutions to aid in improving the capital efficiency of the portfolio while meeting overall risk management limits.~crlf~• Monitor the portfolio position against the asset allocation including understanding and communicating the risks embedded in the portfolio such as duration, key rate duration, credit and liquidity.~crlf~• Partner with other team members to help implement new investment types, develop strategies for new products and customize fixed income indices to meet liability needs.~crlf~• Monitor the credit quality of the portfolio and work with investment accounting to ensure problem credits are dealt with in accordance with insurance accounting rules and regulations.~crlf~• Research credit at a sector and subsector level to help determine the optimal risk reward profile for the portfolio.~crlf~• Maintain an approved list of commercial paper names for the cash management team

  • Key Requirements/ Skills

    • Experience: 10+ years of insurance general account investment management experience ideally focused on portfolios backing fixed or fixed indexed annuities~crlf~• Strong quantitative skills and analytical problem solving ability with attention to detail~crlf~• Strong project management with collaborative leadership skills~crlf~• Ability to work and learn independently as well as in a team environment~crlf~• Advanced skills in MS Excel including VBA, and familiarity with investment systems such as Bloomberg and FactSet~crlf~• Excellent written/verbal communication skills and the ability to handle multiple deadlines~crlf~• Four year degree required: preferably in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Finance, Economics or related technical field
