We are looking for a new Head of Global Insurance Closing & Reporting (m/f/d), based in our Unterföhring office, Munich.
Your Team
Reporting to the Global Head of Accounting, Treasury & Tax, you will manage the Global Insurance Closing & Reporting (GICR) function with processes in all legal insurance carriers of AGCS.
You will have management responsibility for about 60 employees with a direct management span of 5 global teams and respective team heads. In addition, you will have management responsibility for the extended workbench teams in Romania and India.
The Impact You Will Have
In this leadership role, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the (re-)insurance accounting, closing and reporting processes globally across all 28 legal entities and 16 branches of AGCS, covering accounting regimes for internal Allianz Group and external regulatory reporting, ensuring accurate, timely and efficient financial closings and reports.
You will organize and maintain a coherent and efficient global organization of the function, ensuring the highest quality execution and proper internal controls. You will promote and implement global processes and drive standardization in GICR and beyond, in cooperation with the other global and regional Accounting heads and Finance stakeholders.
Some of your specific responsibilities could include:
- Develop, define, implement and execute the vision and targets of the Global Insurance Closing & Reporting (GICR) department within the Global Accounting, Treasury & Tax (ATT) organization
- Steer, supervise, coordinate monthly, quarterly and annual insurance accounting, closing and reporting processes, tools and tasks under IFRS and local regulatory reporting standards (e.g. HGB and Solvency II)
- Ensure adequate internal control system, compliance of processes, reported financials in line with regulatory and internal requirements
- Drive efficient global organizational GICR set-up and global Target Operating Model, further internationalizing the global teams across locations, including the extended workbench set-up
- Manage the global GICR organization, provide managers and employees with guidance on overall strategic picture, set targets, priorities and monitor progress
- Coach, develop and empower employees and managers in a continuously changing environment. Foster mindset and culture of GICR teams in line with Allianz Commercial’s global standards and ambitions
- Present financial results, highlighting opportunities and areas of concern to the Global Head of Accounting, Treasury & Tax (ATT), the CFO, Group Accounting and other Finance stakeholders
- Lead global and cross-functional initiatives within ATT, Finance and Allianz Commercial
- Coordinate and manage prioritization of IT enhancement and change across Accounting functions towards the agile global Finance and Reporting & Analytics IT Product organizations
- Manage interface with external auditors, regulatory authorities and other external stakeholders in alignment with other areas in Finance and ATT
- Manage relationships and foster positive cross-functional collaboration across the various Finance areas, Reinsurance, Operations, Group Accounting and other areas
What You’ll Bring to the Role
With at least 5 years of experience in a senior management position in an insurance company (ideally P&C) and the consequent deep understanding of insurance accounting, closing and reporting concepts, processes, you also bring:
- A degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Accounting or an equivalent level of experience
- Expert knowledge of IFRS 17, local GAAP (HGB), Solvency II, Tax and other external and internal relevant standards and requirements
- Excellent understanding of insurance financial statements, KPIs, performance measurement, P&L steering, cost management and P&C insurance business basics
- Proven managerial experience in developing and leading teams within a global / matrix environment
- In-depth experience in process and business requirements analysis concepts and management of complex global process and project landscapes
- Proven experience in leading change in various business scenarios, including restructuring, integration, growth and mature environments
- Exposure to both shared and outsourced services and solutions
- Excellent understanding of global and local technical workflows, data flows, data modeling, IT accounting tools and systems with regards to insurance and financial closing and reporting operations
- Good understanding of related functional areas along the value chain (eg. Operations, Reinsurance, Actuarial, Finance IT, Global Performance Steeing, Finance, Group Accounting)
- Ability to navigate complexity by making sence of complex issues, identifying and initiating appropriate remediation and follow-up
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills
- Excellent decision making skills and conflict management skills
- Fluent English skills, German skills considered an advantage
