For many people, financial products and insurance policies can feel overwhelming and quickly get put into the ‘too hard basket’. This is one of the things Lucy enjoys most about working at Allianz: making financial concepts more accessible for our customers.
Joining Allianz from one of the “big four” banks, Lucy wanted to stay within the financial services sector but was seeking a more meaningful role.

“I didn’t want to feel like a cog in a machine – I wanted to feel a sense of belonging and know that my contributions matter and are valued,” she shares. “I love breaking down barriers for customers. I feel a sense of achievement when I can make it easier for people to understand our products. It’s real-time job satisfaction for me.”
Juggling work and parenthood
Lucy’s decision to move to Allianz proved to be transformative in more ways than one. From day one, she was struck by the approachability of senior leaders, and Allianz’s commitment to a healthy work-life balance.
“At Allianz, I never had to choose between my career and motherhood,” she says. “I was promoted to a leadership role just as I was about to go on parental leave. It was an amazing feeling knowing that taking a period of leave wouldn’t undermine all of my prior achievements.”
Like all working parents, flexibility is really important to Lucy. She appreciates that at Allianz, she can continue working full-time while tailoring her schedule to accommodate pick-up and drop-off routines, all thanks to our Flexible Ways of Working guidelines.

Within her team, Lucy adopts a personalised approach to nurturing the growth of each member. She actively listens to their aspirations and identifies their strengths, helping uncover areas for further development. Under her guidance, specialists have been promoted to senior positions, and she has played a pivotal role in establishing a new digital content team.
