Job Purpose / Role:

  • Coordinating risk management, control and capital management activities for the country. This includes risk identification, risk assessment, risk monitoring and risk reporting in order to make the risk and control landscape transparent to the organization. It includes definition and prioritization of actions required to mitigate risks in close collaboration with the business, supporting the business in managing their risks. The role also involves interpretation and implementation of external risk management requirements. 

  • Reports to the Regional Head of Risk Management of AGCS SE Asia and matrix to the CFO of Allianz Fire and Marine Insurance Japan

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform independent risk oversight.
  • Implement global and regional risk management practices at local level.
  • Ensure compliance with external requirement also based on regular interaction with local regulators and external parties, including Audit.
  • To contribute to the evolution of risk and control assessment processes and their implementation.
  • Management, monitoring and reporting of top risks, including key risk indicators.
  • Interaction with the business (i.e. 1st line of defense) on focused risk management topics (including definition or risk management measures).
  • Qualitative and quantitative risk management, including risk identification, risk assessment, risk analysis, control assessment, and capital management.
  • Responsible for preparation of standard and ad-hoc management reports.

 

Key Experience / Requirements / Skills:

  • Professional experience of insurance and state of the art risk management techniques.
  • Project and teamwork in an international and dynamic environment.
  • Experience in qualitative and quantitative risk management / risk controlling / risk reporting.
  • Industry or professionally recognized and up-to-date Risk Management expertise, backed up by hands-on Risk Management experience.
  • Experience in preparation of ORSA reports and presenting and chairing of risk committees preferable.
  • Product knowledge: Deep understanding of commercial insurance product portfolio preferable.
  • Robust knowledge of principles & practices of other relevant functional areas (COO, Actuarial, UW, RI, etc.) preferable.
  • Robust understanding of regulatory risk frameworks & requirements (including J-ICS and Economic Capital Requirements) preferable.

 

General skills:

  • Analytical thinking and numeracy: Ability to identify patterns and root causes in complex (e.g. ambiguous, from various sources) data and processes to rapidly distill key issues and provide insight in various situations.
  • Problem solving: Ability to identify and initiate appropriate actions to remediate issues that can be abstract / ambiguous and follow through on their remediation.
  • Communication and presentation skills in English: Ability to understand, elaborate and convey information clearly and effectively in respect to the audience / level of management (both verbal and in writing).
  • Willingness to learn with strong growth mindset.

 

Education:

  • Excellent qualification, preferably in Business Administration, Economics, Mathematics, or any other analytical science. Risk Management / Actuarial / Financial designation.
