The Analytics Engineering team at Allianz Life sits within the Data & Analytics Center of Excellence and is responsible for developing data products and other data related solutions across the company, supporting all areas of the business including operations, sales/distribution, marketing/growth, HR and compliance.
The 2025 Analytics Engineering Summer Internship position will provide an opportunity to tackle challenging and meaningful real world business problems using cutting edge engineering techniques and solutions. You will be working directly with business stakeholders and technical teams on highly visible and highly impactful projects. A successful candidate will have a strong technical background in data language and infrastructure technology as well as strong communications skills and a willingness to work in a collaborative environment.
What you do:
- Design and build data datasets using SQL to address important business needs
- Query and prepare relevant data utilizing Azure Data Platform for reports, including building out data governance layers to verify data quality
- Work closely with business stakeholders and data analysts to understand legacy business reports for redevelopment on new technology
- Implement high quality code and participate in regular code reviews
- Balance working independently and collaboration with other teams
What you bring:
- Working toward a bachelor’s degree in statistics, data science, math, computer science or a related quantitative field (ideal graduation date between December 2025 and May 2026)
- Proficiency working with SQL
- Solid understanding of basic software development life cycle
- Experience working with databases
- Ability to summarize, explore, visualize, and manipulate large data sets
- Ability to deal with the ambiguity of early-stage scoping and evaluation of new opportunities and the flexibility to change direction as additional information becomes available
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Curiosity to learn, including an interest in learning about the life insurance and annuities industry
- Proactive learner who takes initiative to suggest/create new solutions to better the business
- Experience creating data sets using SQL
- Knowledge of an Agile working environment and/or SDLC
- Experience using Microsoft based data tools (PowerBI, SQL Server Management Studio, Azure)
- Experience creating data sets using SQL
