You will be part of the Proxy Voting Team and will be responsible for various operations tasks, including: instruction entry, query management, account openings, reporting and project management.
Within this role, you will work closely with our Proxy Voting specialist to support and learn from during our busy voting season.
What is proxy voting at AGI? On a yearly basis, companies hold AGM’s and EGM’s to provide shareholders the opportunity to vote on key aspects of their business - from who should be a director, how dividends should be distributed & environmental/social issues to name a few.
Within our network of funds, we hold positions in several companies – All of which will have their own yearly meetings and proposals to vote on. It is our duty to ensure we are voting wherever possible, to ensure AGI are actively contributing for the benefit of our positions. The proxy team works with our ESG team, compliance teams, and external parties to ensure that a smooth process is applied.
The global Proxy team are located in London, but connected to a wider group spread over several destinations in Europe. You might also be asked to travel to European destinations.
What you will do
We are offering the opportunity for an intern to experience and learn from a busy operations role during our peak Proxy Voting season.
You will learn how a global investment management company works on a day-to-day basis, the challenges we face and how we prioritise to put our clients first. Here are some tasks you will experience:
- Liaising with internal colleagues, portfolio managers, client account managers & specialist departments
- Inputting of instructions/processing paperwork
- Management of account openings
- Creation of client specific reports
- Reviewing and interacting with Bloomberg
- How we manage relationships with outsourced providers, clients, custodians and management
- How to create and maintain processes & procedures
- How we evaluate risk and how we prioritise our workloads
- Managing small projects from start to finish
- Participate in regular meetings
What you bring
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal
- Ability to resolve complex problems, delivery focused and well organised
- Client focused and rigorous while performing tasks
- Excellent analytical, communicational and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated team player willing to work in a diverse and challenging environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (in particular Excel – Knowledge of macros and pivot table creation is a big plus)
- Basic understanding of the value chain of an investment management firm
