We are looking for an Underwriter Construction Large Corp (m/f/d), based in Munich, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Cologne or Hamburg.

The Impact You Will Have 

As an Underwriter, you will be responsible for underwriting profitable new business and renewing contracts from existing customer relationships in order to achieve the Construction (LoB) division's targets. In addition, you will look after our key accounts, conduct negotiations and set prices and contract terms. You will also be responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with brokers and customers. 

Some of your specific responsibilities could include: 

• Acquisition of new business and renewal of existing contracts (including customer and broker negotiations) as part of the underwriting strategy in key account and group customer business  
• Development of international insurance concepts according to customer-specific requirements 
• Negotiation of prices and conditions with agents and customers 
• Assessment of natural catastrophe risks and accumulation control 
• Assessment and evaluation of risks submitted in collaboration with our risk engineers 
• Calculation with global pricing tools 
• Progress monitoring and organisation of reinsurance 
• Proactive involvement and co-operation with different functional areas within the defined underwriting process (Allianz Risk Consulting, Operations, Claims, Reinsurance) 
• Developing and maintaining relationships with key brokers and customers as well as other relevant stakeholders (e.g. risk managers) 

What You’ll Bring to the Role 

• Completed studies in the field of business administration, engineering or a degree in insurance training 
• Professional experience in the Underwriting Construction segment 
• Understanding of the local, regional and international LoB insurance markets and their competitors in the large and group customer business 
• Experience in cross-border underwriting 
• Good understanding of customer needs  
• Understanding of the divisional products and the portfolio; as well as their legal and regulatory framework conditions  
• Ability to assess risk-related exposures and natural hazards relevant to our division 
• Contract drafting including negotiation and implementation of insurance law formulations 
• Negotiating skills and knowledge of the Energy & Construction division 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in German and English (business fluent)
