We are looking for a Senior Underwriter – Engineering/ Natural Resources (m/f/d), based in Munich, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Cologne or Hamburg

Our seasoned team takes ownership of top key accounts and clients, skillfully navigating through complex negotiations to ensure optimal participation, pricing, and terms and conditions. You will work in a team of highly experienced and motivated Underwriters with a great team spirit. The team is always open to support and learn from each other. 

The Impact You Will Have

Reporting to the Underwriting Senior Team Leader you will be responsible for assessing new and renewal business to ensure profitability within the Natural Resources Line of Business (LoB) targets on a regional and global scale. This role involves managing large accounts/clients within the conventional and renewables power industry, including negotiations on participation, pricing, and terms and conditions. Building and maintaining strong relationships with brokers and clients is essential, as is serving as a specialized technical expert/lead for at least one sub-LoB (Operational Power, Onshore Renewables, Offshore Renewables). 

Some of your specific responsibilities could include:

•    Underwrite large new and renewal accounts to meet financial targets, negotiating terms with brokers and managing capacity.
•    Evaluate Natural Catastrophe Accumulation and International Insurance Programs, utilizing specialized technical expertise.
•    Adhere to LoB governance framework and ensure contract certainty and accurate policy documentation.
•    Contribute to regional Underwriting strategy, including training and development of staff.
•    Proactively support business acquisition and retention efforts, liaising with market management initiatives.
•    Represent Allianz Commercial externally, foster relationships with brokers, clients, and stakeholders, and engage functional areas in the underwriting process.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

•    Significant experience in underwriting profitable business in LoB
•    Specialized understanding of sub-LoB products and portfolio
•    Recognized relationships with brokers at peer group level
•    In-depth expert understanding of regional/local LoB insurance markets and competitor landscape
•    Good understanding of legal and regulatory framework
•    Experience working in complex, global matrix organization
•    Proficiency in risk assessment, pricing, contract drafting, and policy management
•    Fluency in both English and German
