We are seeking to recruit a candidate to oversee all finance operations and reporting for AllianzGI Japan, a fully owned subsidiary of AllianzGI GmbH, with headquarters in Germany. e.g. financial reporting, management reporting, capital and liquidity management, treasury, statutory and tax reporting.
 
In this role, you will work closely with our offshore outsourcing vendor to ensure accuracy and timely submission of Japan`s financial and tax deliverables, compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax rules and regulatory requirements, both locally and globally. 
 
As a satellite location in Asia, we strive to provide colleagues with broader scope outside of their own location. For Japan, given the intensive transfer pricing arrangement, the position will oversee the TPA operation. 
 
As a local controller, you are also required to act as a strategic business partner, maintaining close and trusting relationships with local management. This involves providing value-added advisory services, challenging, and contributing as appropriate to support sustainable business growth. Your responsibilities include performing business analytics for new products, mandating assessments and supporting M&A activities.
 
You will also need to participate in various global projects when necessary.

 

What you will do
 

  • Manage and maintain the overall accounting process by working closely with offshore outsourcing vendor and other F&C functions (FP&A, Business Partnering, Accounting & Financial Management, F&C Operations, Procurement, etc.)
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of the IFRS (monthly) and Japan local GAAP (annually), tax, and regulatory reports; group financial reports, and all other financial management information including quarterly NAV projections 
  • Ensure continued compliance with AllianzGI and Allianz Group accounting policies, tax rules and regulatory laws
  • Provide support to supervisors as the finance change agent, drive the process streamlining and improvement to enhance operational efficiency
  • Maintain close and trusting relationships with local management through the provision of value-added advisory services; challenge and contribute to support sustainable business growth
  • Perform checks on work and reports submitted by subordinates (including service vendors) and authorize accounting inputs and outputs
  • Review and monitor the quarterly forecast and annual budget
  • Prepare schedules for auditors or tax representatives 
  • Provide suggestions regarding appropriate accounting treatments and reporting requirements for any new or revised rules or standards, whether external or internal
  • Review and prepare ad-hoc assignments from local / regional offices
  • Perform user testing, which includes preparing test plans and coordinating user sign-off (if necessary)
  • Manage the support service provider team in India and utilize the resources for more efficiency
  • Present financial results and topics to senior leaders including the board members

 
What you bring
 
Qualification

  • University graduate with over 10 years of accounting experience, preferably in a multicultural environment 
  • Strong knowledge of the asset management industry would be a plus

 
Background Experience and Skills

  • In-depth accounting knowledge both in IFRS and Japan GAAP 
  • Audit related experience (preferred)
  • Excellent PC knowledge (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Powerpoint, PowerBI, etc.)
  • SAPERP experience (SAP preferred)
  • In-depth knowledge of local tax and regulatory reporting and requirements

 
Language

  • Proficient communication in written & spoken English (need to actively participate in conference calls in English)
