The Commercial division is Allianz Australia's largest distribution channel whose customers include Commercial, Corporate and international buyer groups throughout Australia and New Zealand. We currently have an opening for a Commercial Underwriter to join our team to work on complex mid-market/ corporate accounts in accordance with the business unit plan, underwriting guidelines and delegated authority limits.

 

This role will suit an experienced Underwriter with proven success underwriting commercial risk, liability, property or motor fleet. You will underwrite large and commercially significant risks in our motor dealership portfolio and, engage with a range of brokers across the country.

 

It will be your responsibility to:

  • Provide quotations for new business, renewals and endorsements.
  • Strong understanding of the broker market with superior skills in relationship building and negotiations
  • Manage workflows of new business, renewals and endorsements, to ensure delivery of quality products and services.
  • Actively contribute to and develop new business pipeline through collaboration with distribution team and other relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Anticipate and provide solutions to customers’ needs from available information, to design sustainable responses to suit their circumstances.
  • Maximise retention of assigned accounts and ensure timely review of renewal business in conjunction with internal stakeholders’ requirements.
  • Ensure the Underwriting portfolio is actively managed and apply remediation to stressed accounts to maintain a profitable position and manage any inherent risks.
  • Stay abreast of market conditions and trends, maintain a market presence in the region and Line of Business community within Allianz.

 

Important to your success:

  • Demonstrated experience in a commercial underwriting role/account management role focused on property, liability or motor fleet risk within General Insurance is highly essential.
  • Build and foster collaborative and trusting relationships with key intermediaries to position AAL as a market leader
  • Ability to plan and prioritise effectively, organise tasks and manage competing resources and demands.
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm and ability to optimise business value to customers by delivering high quality services and positive customer experiences to sustain and enhance the customer base.
  • Proven analytical and critical thinking capability to interpret a range of data, identify patterns, trends and links that inform judgements and solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of communicating with clarity, impact and influence.
