Job Purpose

The Regional Lead for Data & AI owns the data and analytics architecture blueprint and the technology roadmap for the region. As the owner of the Regional Data Strategy, you will drive the implementation of the strategy in the AZAP Operating Entities (OEs) and identify areas for harmonization to increase the reusability of strategic data & AI assets across the region.

As a Machine Learning and AI Expert, your primary responsibility will be to work with the business leads to identify opportunities to apply advanced analytics techniques, including machine learning and artificial intelligence, to solve complex business problems and to drive business growth and efficiencies. Your work will contribute to optimizing business processes, improving decision-making, enhancing customer experience and drive innovations enabled by data and AI. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to identify, design and to develop data and AI solutions from ideation phase to production.

The role includes governing information management for the Asia Pacific region, providing oversight and steering of OEs' implementation of Group and Regional data initiatives and selection of technology components and platforms that are fit for purpose for the region. You will provide guidance and support to the OEs Head of Data Office in their execution of their respective data plans and lead the regional data governance, data platform and co-lead the business data solutions communities.

 

What you do

You will

  • Develop business-focused data & AI strategy and solutions to support the business
  • Identify and drive the adoption and scaling of data & AI use cases across the AZAP region
  • Liaise with the business and ensure regional data initiatives meet the business objectives within cost and time boundaries 
  • Define and manage the Regional Data & Analytics Architecture Blueprint and Roadmaps for Data Governance, Data Platform and Data & AI Solutions
  • Ensure OEs' design implementation of data related initiatives are aligned with the regional Data roadmap
  • Provide architecture support to the regional transformation teams in the rollout of regional data related initiatives to OEs in line with regional business and IT strategy
  • Deliver architecture blueprint that supports an integration with other regional platforms and existing/interim OE platforms and solutions
  • Ensure the regional data architecture is compliant with various regulatory requirements 
  • Serves as a core member of the AZAP Architecture Review Board. Steers the local OE towards a common architecture and common regional platforms
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the Regional Head of Technology & Architecture and regional stakeholders (Regional COO, OEs COOs & CIOs, OE Head of Data Office and business owners)
  • Stay abreast of advancements in ML and AI: Keep up to date with the latest trends, research, and advancements in the fields of machine learning and artificial intelligence. Identify and propose innovative solutions to business challenges, leveraging emerging technologies and techniques
  • Lead the Data & AI Community across the region

 

What you bring

  • Experience in successful execution and rollout of data strategy and data initiatives at local and regional level
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills
  • Outstanding ability to work as part of a team across different countries, cultures, and business functions
  • Expertise in machine learning and AI: Strong knowledge and practical experience in applying various machine learning techniques, LLMs, agentic AIs and emerging standards such as MCP
  • Expertise in Data & Analytics Platforms: Proficiency in data platforms and infrastructure, including data lakes, data warehouses, and cloud-based data & AI platform services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Expertise in Data Management: Hands-on experience in at least 6 of the Knowledge Areas as defined in DAMA-DMBOK Data Management Framework (Data Governance, Data Architecture, Data Modeling & Design, Data Storage & Operations, Data Security, Data Integration & Interoperability, Document and Content Management, Reference and Master Data, Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence, Metadata, Data Quality)
  • University degree related to Computer Science or Engineering
  • At least 10 years of experience in data management, data analytics and minimum of 5 years of experience in machine learning and AI
  • At least 5 years of Insurance industry experience
