The Actuarial Function of Allianz Benelux is looking for an experienced P&C Actuary to complement the team and advance it to the next level of technical excellence.

In addition, you are entitled to: 

  • A gross monthly salary between €4.773,46 - €8.000, - based on 38 hours; 
  • 8% holiday pay and a gratuity of 12.5% of annual salary;
  • 25 holidays based on a 38-hour working week and the possibility of accruing 13-ADV days;

  • NS Business card for all forms of public transport that you can use 24/7 (including private), or a travel allowance of €0.21 per km. 

 

What will you do?

The Actuarial Function is responsible for technical provision reviews, model validations, product approvals, as well as providing opinions on pricing, underwriting and risk capital. We cover the range of P&C, Life and Health insurance activities across the three Benelux countries. Our work style favors collaboration and problem solving together with the first line colleagues. We offer a dynamic and flexible role for a P&C actuary in the Actuarial Function team covering the Benelux region. You report directly to the Actuarial Function Holder. Your work covers the full insurance landscape with a focus on P&C lines of business, covering both reserving and pricing as a second line function. As Allianz Benelux is a composite insurance company, your scope will expand to other insurance segments, i.e. Life and Health.

 

Your responsibilities:

  • Review product design, technical and commercial pricing, reinsurance arrangements
  • Review reserving techniques and technical provisions in local, IFRS and solvency balance sheets
  • Review the solvency capital requirements
  • Challenge the actuarial assumptions, enhance back-testing and sensitivity analysis 
  • Engage with the reserving and pricing colleagues, collaborate to problem solving, provide guidance on technical topics, formulate relevant findings and actionable recommendations
  • Write concise reports intended to Management, Board of Directors and Supervisor
  • Stakeholder management, from Chief Actuary, Chief Underwriting Officer, Chief Risk Officer to the managers of the business domains
  • Continuous learning to keep pace with business, market and technology evolutions

 

Is this you?

You are a qualified actuary, or started qualification, and you have relevant practical experience. You are curious, you like to challenge and be challenged. Explaining complex topics fluently using clear and simple language is natural for you. You do not take statements at face value, and are driven to understand the underlying dynamics. You stay up to date in the actuarial field, are eager to learn and test new methodologies or tools. You are a skilled programmer and you have passion to analyze, make links and provide your opinion on the technical provisions, the profitability and the underwriting risks of insurance products. You don’t shy away from joining forces with the business in order to improve the processes and techniques. You enjoy collaboration for problem solving, exchanging ideas, sharing practices.

 

What do we expect?

  • A Master’s degree in Actuarial Sciences or equivalent actuarial expertise acquired through experience
  • Relevant working experience in P&C reserving and pricing techniques
  • Solid IT skills – querying and analyzing data, programming, actuarial software 
  • Fluent communication in English including excellent writing skills. A good level of Dutch is required to have fluent conversations with the colleagues. French is a plus.  
  • Ability to make presentation to senior management and explain complex topics with simplicity and clarity
  • Flexibility to travel 1 day per week between the locations Rotterdam-Brussels
