The Allianz Technology Australia Branch are currently seeking a Head of Legal to be the primary point of contact and strategic legal advisor to our local operations. Working closely with the Regional Head of Legal, your counterparts within Allianz Australia Limited and your international peers, your role will be pivotal to the business’ success. Although you will have oversight of all Legal matters, a strong knowledge of commercial, outsourcing, procurement and technology matters will be essential for success.

 

You'll be responsible for: 

  • Managing all matters pertaining to legal, regulatory, and corporate governance to meet all regulatory requirements governing Allianz Technology SE Australia Branch.
  • Acting as the legal point of contact and advisor for local management, functional owners, regional and central teams, and customers ("OE") of AZT Australia Branch, while also being responsible for budget management and ensuring the resilience of the legal function.
  • Managing the alignment of legal activities with Regional and Global Legal and their strategic directions.
  • Raising awareness and running campaigns within the Branch; managing legal and corporate risks.
  • Managing recruitment, performance, and supervisory requirements for direct reports, ensuring the team has a clear understanding of roles and responsibilities.

 

About you: 

  • Bachelor of Laws or equivalent certification and current legal practicing certificate.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience, preferably in technology, outsourcing and/or insurance
  • Have prior experience working in a law firm and as in-house counsel with proven ability to articulate a customer-centric culture, apply ethics and integrity, and exemplify behaviours at all levels of the organization.
  • Advanced understanding of the legal system in Australia, including but not limited to civil law, contract law, company law, commercial law, technology, and outsourcing regulations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of communicating with audiences at all levels with clarity, impact, and influence.
