The primary purpose of this role is to lead and manage the Property Underwriting team to provide professional underwriting standards to internal and external customers, develop and implement required underwriting action plans and to deliver quality service and financial targets to Plan, whilst always ensuring adherence to company risk, underwriting and compliance standards.

About the role

  • Leading and coaching a high-performing and supportive team of Property Underwriters.
  • Delivering financial goals as set out in the plan that meet both GWP and profit objectives.
  • Working with Distribution teams to ensure a highly responsive service mindset is being adopted that actively contributes to a strong customer-centric culture.
  • Establishing a strategic planning rhythm for pipeline and renewal opportunities with Distribution to maximize conversion and retention rates.
  • Managing workflow processes across the Property Underwriting team to ensure market-leading customer service is being delivered to maintain positive Net Promoter Score (NPS) results.
  • Contributing to the design of new systems, processes, and procedures with the view of delivering superior underwriting functions.
  • Developing and implementing targeted business optimization initiatives to ensure Underwriting meets customer and people targets.
  • Facilitating an inclusive and collaborative environment with all Commercial initiatives and programs to further build on Allianz People Attributes and ensure diverse thinking and the best outcomes.
  • Actively promoting and driving risk management activities with customers to effectively deliver on loss ratio targets and portfolio results.
  • Developing reports to monitor productivity and service standards across renewals, new business, endorsements, and loss control key metrics.
  • Identifying local risk and compliance issues and developing and implementing resolution plans.

 

About you

  • Extensive experience in an operational Property Underwriting role in a general insurance organisation. Experience in leading high-performing teams and mentoring team members is highly desirable.
  • Comprehensive understanding of relevant regulatory and/or legislative compliance requirements that impact the organisation.
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm and ability to optimise business value to customers by delivering high quality services and positive customer experiences to sustain and enhance the customer base.
  • Proven analytical and critical thinking capability to interpret a range of data, identify patterns, trends and links that inform judgements and solutions.
  • Pays high attention to detail by completing tasks with thoroughness and accuracy and can quickly identify errors or inconsistencies within information.
  • Ability to interpret and analyse complex information, extract meaningful insights, and evaluate options for decision making.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of communicating with clarity, impact, and influence.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline and industry accreditations, where necessary.
