Job Purpose/ Role
We are looking for a Senior Actuarial Expert to join our Corporate Actuarial team at Allianz Re, the Allianz Group’s global “in-house” reinsurance company based in Munich, Germany.
You will report to the Chief Actuary and be part of a friendly and professional team and will be fully integrated in the quarterly and annual reserving and reporting processes.
You will take on a senior role in the Corporate Actuarial team and be involved in various actuarial topics within the Finance department covering Life and Non-Life business. Your main focus will be on IFRS closing processes and in the short term you will be more involved in the Life & Health area. You will also take on coordination roles for topics and projects spanning different teams within Corporate Actuarial and act as actuarial contact for colleagues from other departments, e.g. Finance and Underwriting. You will be in close contact with the Chief Actuary and other managers within Corporate Actuarial with the aim of supporting the different teams and shaping and improving the actuarial working environment.
Key responsibilities
- Participate in the quarterly closings of a global reinsurance company
- Perform quarterly reserving and reporting tasks according to IFRS 17 (Life and Non-Life)
- Coordinate processes with colleagues from other departments
- Support actuarial analyses and reporting tasks
- Participate, support and coordinate and/or lead projects involving various teams
Qualifications
- Qualified actuary of a recognized actuarial society (DAV, IFoA, etc.), preferably with specialization in Life
- University degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a related quantitative field
- Fluency in English speaking and writing, German is a plus
Experience & Key skills
- Several years (>6) of experience in an actuarial role in the Life area; additional experience in the Non-Life sector is a plus
- Solid experience and very good knowledge of reserving and reporting according to the accounting standard IFRS 17 (particularly the Building Block Approach)
- Strong MS Excel skills; advanced functionalities (VBA, PowerQuery) are an advantage
- Programming (R/SAS) and database handling (SQL/Oracle) experience
- Excellent communication skills with experience in communicating to senior management in the context of financial and actuarial reporting
- Ability to collaborate closely with colleagues across several disciplines and to take on a project leader role
- Team player with the ability to work independently with attention to detail as well as ability to apply high-level judgement
- Self-directed and very well organised; pro-active working attitude and willingness to work under time pressure
- Ability to work in an international and multi-cultural environment
- Highly motivated and open minded person who sees challenges as opportunities
