Job role

The Sustainability Manager will support the implementation of the Group Sustainability strategy, the corresponding roadmap, as well as the relevant corporate measures and non-financial reporting.

 

What you will do

  • Responsible for the management and assessment of the full year non-financial reporting cycle, ensuring the deadlines are met
  • Responsible for the management of the environmental reporting tool - Microsoft Sustainability Manager, throughout the non-financial reporting cycles
  • Contribute to the development strategy, roadmap and relevant KPIs for new topics in the area of operations in line with Allianz Global Sustainability strategy such as carbon pricing, carbon offsetting, etc.
  • Actively support Allianz entities in identifying value and impact of initiatives, identify areas for improvement, specify requirements and implement recommendations to improve impact on Group Sustainability targets.
  • Assessment of requirements of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and alignment with internal sustainability reporting
  • Measuring progress on targets, understanding sustainability KPIs and their impact with a focus on climate, energy and environment.
  • Conduct research and benchmarking of key trends in the industry and translate best practices into key insights.
  • Develop and implement employee awareness and engagement opportunities to embed sustainability internally and making it relevant to the entire employee base.
  • Support the preparation and execution of the audit process, as well as presentations for various stakeholders
  • Act as Communications SPOC for the Sustainable Operations team and manage the communications channels related to the Sustainable Operations team of Allianz, including preparing group-wide communication e-mails.
  • Work with a diverse group of stakeholders internally and externally

 

What you bring

  • Academic background in environmental sciences, environmental engineering, energy management, sustainability, economics, social studies, political sciences and/or any other related field
  • Deep expertise in environmental specific topic, such as energy, green buildings, electricity, travel (air / road / rail/ etc.), or marine related topics (pollution, biodiversity, blue credits, etc) as well as preferably removal of GHG
  • Deep understanding of programs and initiatives addressing energy reduction and efficiency (e.g., ISO certifications, Environmental and Energy Management Systems) and renewable energy (e.g., sustainable heating solutions) including the sourcing-process of renewable electricity (e.g., PPAs, EACs)
  • Deep understanding of non-financial reporting and implications of regulatory requirement connected to the relevant metrics (environmental, social, governance).
  • Profound knowledge of sustainability standards and regulations (e.g., CSRD, EU Taxonomy, GHG Protocol, SBTi, ISO 14001/ISO 50001)
  • Experience in managing and analysing large databases
  • Agile Certification or experience with an Agile environment

 

You have

  • 3-5 years of work experience, preferably with a focus on sustainability, environmental management or similar
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English required; German or another European language is a plus
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to drive several projects at once
  • Hands-on working mentality, with analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as moderation and presentation skills.
  • Capable to build collaborative working relationships and ability to work in virtual and international team set-ups.
  • Strong Microsoft Office knowledge, especially collaboration tools, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Expertise in specific topics (energy, sustainable buildings/real estate, procurement).
  • Knowledge of operations processes (procurement, real estate, energy management, corporate fleet etc.).
  • Experience in environmental and sustainability reporting
  • Good project management skills, with proven track record in managing global complex projects with senior stakeholders
