Nice to know

Active a primary Business Partner between Property & Casualty (P&C) Line of Business (LoB) and IT.  Coordinate all aspects of technology solutions, platforms and infrastructure on behalf of the P&C business as well as relevant Central Functions supporting the P&C business. Work with other IT teams to ensure the P&C business technology needs are provided in a timely, efficient, secure and cost-effective manner.  This may also include coordinating with Global & Regional Technology teams as well as 3rd Party Vendors in order to assure effective technology delivery and support to the business and its supporting functions.

 

Specifically responsible for Back-end Core systems and platforms utilized by the business including application development and application maintenance activities related to the development of new functionalities, minor adjustments, errors corrections in existing applications and/or development of new applications, including studies, concepts, realization, testing and release of updates for host, client server-based applications, web applications etc. This may include coordinating with 3rd Parties such as internal Allianz Global Solutions teams (e.g., Allianz Technology) and other vendors for the ongoing support and/or delivery of solutions for the business.

 

This position is responsible for leading and monitoring the Core Platforms P&C team to ensure that all the systems and platforms scope of responsibility meet established SLAs for availability, uptime, support response times, etc.  Also responsible that all agreed projects are delivered on time and meet the user requirements and business needs.

 

Your Day at Allianz Ayudhya

1) Strategic Management (for the system assigned e.g., OPUS, CIA, ACS 2.0):

  • Establish goals, objectives, strategies, policies, procedures, and work standards for the Application Development & Maintenance Department by planning directing and managing the activities and services of the department
  • Act as primary IT Business Partner with the P&C Line of Business (LoB) for all its technology needs
  • Collaborate with other IT Teams including from L&H to ensure appropriate and cost-effective IT solutions, processes, policies and standards are always provided to the business
  • Negotiate and manage outsourced agencies in order to obtain the best deal for the company

2) Resources & Team Management:

  • Determine resource status and needs, manage resources to point of need, coordinate sourcing and outplacement to ensure organizational goals are met
  • Manage financial and human capital resources by considering cost resources utilization

3) Project Management:

  • Prepare project plans; review overall work plans
  • Act as a project manager to lead larger projects and team members  
  • Resolve any plan conflicts by balancing time, manpower and quality of the work product
  • Communicate / Coordinate / Resolve all concerned issues
  • Control and monitor project progress of teams to deliver project within budget and time frame
  • Manage multiple projects at the same time with proper quality delivery; delegate as necessary and required
  • Manage project team members on a day-to-day basis; identify, resolve and escalate issues
  • Ensure all concerned parties are fully informed regarding project milestone deadlines and status reporting
  • Provide production support after project go live
  • Encourage teamwork and cooperation within the department as well as inter-departmental teams in order to work collaboratively and effectively among teams.
  • Facilitate meetings and discussions between the IT teams and the business system users if needed.

 

 

4) Consultancy Services:

  • Provide advice on solutions and other technology enablers that can serve business needs and requirements
  • Provide consultancy services / training to build knowledge and skills of IT teams and business users
  • Ensure the team members comply with all established standards, policies and procedures (both IT and IT Security)
  • Be a consultant for team members and users/customers to solve problems and provide solutions to meet their needs

5) Vender Management:

  • Research and make recommendations on software products and services in support of procurement and development efforts including Global / Regional solutions (Class 1 and Class2)
  • Identify vendors of software applications that meet specified requirements and arranging favorable terms for procurement of selected software applications including working with Allianz Technology for relevant Global solutions
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with vendors; evaluate performance and ensure quality of delivery per agreed SLAs including with Allianz Technology as appropriate

6) Financial, Budgeting and Expenses Control:

  • Control the financial resources utilizing financial and budgeting concepts, principles and practices required to support existing IT solutions, platforms, systems and infrastructure for the P&C business as well as to implement information technology projects/programs; use cost-benefit thinking to formulate and monitor expenses; work closely with IT Finance Controller on all aspects of relevant IT expenditures, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Enable IT cost transparency and IT financial steering for responsible department as well as for the P&C business IT costs as a whole
  • Plan departmental budget including forecasting of the need for additional expenses for staff, equipment, materials and supplies; monitoring and approving expenditures and analyzing financial status for own department as well as for P&C overall IT budget
  • Monitor department expenditure and ABC report; Coordinate with IT Finance Controller for overall P&C IT

7) People Management

  • Encourage teamwork and cooperation and alignment to all the people management strategies and processes e.g., HR policy, people development, AES etc. 
  • Facilitate meetings and discussions between the teams for people development topics

Must Have

  • Degree in in Management Information System, Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Computer or another related field
  • At least 15 years of professional experience in Application Design and Development, Application Maintenance and Support, or other related field in Insurance or Bank industry

Nice to Have

  • Understanding of Insurance Business, particularly the Property & Casualty segment, and relevant Information Technology needs and solutions
  • Solid overall IT expertise covering software and hardware across all dimensions of insurance business
  • Application Development & Maintenance skills
  • Experience in recognition of market trends, benefits, and implementation of business opportunities
  • Experience managing people in delivering consulting / advisory services at the corporate level
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution and financial modeling skills
  • Able to understand and interpret business, performance, and operation metrices, indicators and KPIs
  • Understanding of strategy, operations, management, leading engagements across business functions
  • Knowledge of statistical concepts and analysis and Experience with SAP or other ERP systems
  • Knowledge of collaborative project management tools (e.g., Trello, JIRA, Asana etc.)
