This role reports to the Head of Strategic Planning & Controlling. The Strategic Planning and Controlling Manager is contributing to support steering the Allianz Partners (AzP) business on a global scale and in multiple dimensions from financial view. The role leads and executes integral controlling, monitoring and reporting activities within AzP Planning and Controlling (P&C). In handling the close collaboration and alignment with all P&C central, LoB and regional teams. The role manages, analyzes and ensures in high quality recommendations and actions to AzP Board of Management to assure financial and business performance targets are met. Essential and key responsibility is to support the translation of the strategic objectives and ambition into reliable financial targets for AzP organization and business, i.e. setting of TDI (Top Down Indicators), but also the alignment with AZ Group financial targets. The role is involved to handle financial and controlling related communication and reporting processes with AZ SE H2 and H5 divisions including the management dialogues SD and PD, monthly, quarterly and annual closings and ad hoc requests. The Strategic Planning and Controlling Manager support the implementation of the ongoing transformation in AzP. The role coordinates a small team of skilled financial specialists (solid) and the outsourced activities to FSS.

 

What you do

 

Steer the company from global financial view.

  • Support TDI setting, i.e. translation of the strategic objectives and ambition into reliable financial targets for AzP organization and business, alignment with AZ Group financial targets.
  • Ensure AzP plan upload to AZ Group systems and provides relevant analysis and mandatory supporting documents to H2 and H5 divisions. Leading Balance Sheet planning process including Equity projection.
  • Handles and oversees monthly, quarterly and annual multidimensional closing and reporting process for AZ Group (H2/H5) including business driver plan and prior year vs actual analysis, manages deliverables on time and in quality, assures quality financial oversight as well as analysis deep-dives and deliveries for ad hoc requests.
  • Manages and executes target setting and target assessment process of AzP (AzP Group, LoBs, Regions, BUs, Functions). Ensure close collaboration with AzP HR and relevant AZ Group functions and departments i.e. H2 and H5.
  • Ensure close collaboration with accounting and risk functions on various deliverables (e.g. closings, RoE analysis).
  • Contributes actively to strategic decision-making of AzP CFO and AzP Board of Management based on sound business and financial analysis.

Transform the company and P&C function into a global organization: 

  • Supports ongoing cross-functional (e.g. Finance, OM, Ops, CTO) and/or cross-OE (e.g. AzP, AZ Technology) projects with holistic financial know-how and consolidated view on relevant AzP financial KPIs, but also integration in overall planning process and framework.
  • Enforces data availability and quality according to increasing customer demands (also outside Finance) with full leverage of enhanced technical solutions and automated tools.
  • Contributes to cost and budget steering in alignment with global functional targets of P&C, thus keeps strong focus on increasing efficiency and productivity in all areas of responsibility including coordination of outsourcing activities.
  • Participates in AzP projects and business cases, i.e. being a strategic partner to the business and supporting the decision making by financial analyses in defined business opportunities, thus setting harmonized standards for evaluation from an economic point of view.

Leadership – global exposure to wide range of customers:

  • Acts with surpassing integrity along all dimensions of the Allianz People Attributes.
  • Manages a high-performing team of highly skilled financial specialists combining both functional expertise and strategic/business judgment.
  • Provides guidance and communicates to a diverse and very international small group of people in the finance area.
  • Manages regular exposure, communication and interaction with AzP CFO and AzP Board members, Regional MD, Finance Head of LoB, as well as to senior management executives in AZ Group next to daily interaction with head of SPC and frequent interaction with Global Head of P&C.
  • Implements and ensures well-managed cross-functional collaboration within AzP organization, in particular with HR, CTO, COO, UW, Markets, Strategy, CEO & CFO Office.
     

What you bring

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Advanced training in Corporate Finance, preferably with a Master's degree or MBA.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience within the Financial Department (Controlling, Risk, Investments, M&A, Accounting).
  • International work experience with cross-boarder exposure with capability of acting in a global, regional and local scope and multicultural environment and excellent command of English language (oral and written).
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills and exposure to top management and decision-makers.
  • Deep understanding of:  corporate finance instruments and capital transactions; capital for different business models (working capital); valuation principles for financial assets; M&A processes.
  • Strategic thinking and tactical problem solving; frame issues and create effective plans for execution.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, statistical programs, Excel and database.
