Job Purpose/Role

At AGCS, our Accounting department is responsible for the efficient, accurate, and timely production of AGCS’ financial information, that produces valuable financial insights for the company and helps to protect its assets. You are part of a diverse and experienced team in Munich, reporting directly to the Global Head of Treaty Reinsurance Accounting. 


Key responsibilities

In this role you will…

•    Document application of policies, procedures and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility. 
•    Archive records to satisfy audit and statutory requirements. 
•    Draft standards to improve quality as well as actively contribute in improving and implementing global operation cycles, processes and workflows as well as the implementation of global policies and procedures
•    Ensure that all IFRS, GAAP and Statutory closing and reporting tasks (e.g. annual report, reporting to regulatory authorities, NAIC reporting, other internal/external reporting requirements) related to own area of responsibility are accurate and timely on a global basis. 
•    Complete assigned postings, Journal Entries and Account reconciliations on a periodic basis. Reconcile and settle intercompany transactions within the affiliated company group.
•    Coordinate, transfer and reconcile data from interfaces of front-end systems.
•    Take care of monthly legal entity close submission activities, including posting of accruals, deferred acquisition expenses and other accounting transactions.
•    Support colleagues in the near- and offshore entities with their closing tasks, coordinate the tasks and supervise the teams and perform quality checks on the work done.
•    Manage relationship with 3rd parties (auditors, biz units, tax authorities, public authorities, etc.)
•    Collaborate across teams (in and outside of CFO) and in virtual teams and being able to supervise and coordinate near- and offshore teams without authority.
•    Assist internal clients (e.g. other departments) with reports, research and other activities.


To be successful in this role:


You will have…


•    Excellent tertiary qualification (ideally Master), preferably in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Accounting or qualified by experience in related discipline 
•    Professional experience in reinsurance, P&C insurance and / or asset management.
•    Deep knowledge of standard accounting (GAAP & IFRS) for insurance and reinsurance, Regulatory, Tax and other relevant requirements (such as Allianz Accounting policies) wrt reporting, compliance and declaration
•    A deep understanding in insurance financial statements and their performance measurement including drivers and being able to perform financial statements analysis (e.g. Ratio Analysis) and reconciliations.
•    The ability to manage projects and to handle complex processes
•    Advanced Digital Skills: Knowledge of data architecture, understanding the potential of data analytics, ability to digitalize the accounting processes and to explain the accounting needs to third parties.
•    Communication and Presentation Skills: Ability to understand, elaborate and convey information clearly and effectively in respect to the audience / level of management (both verbal and in writing)
•    Analytical Thinking and Problem-solving skill: Ability to identify patterns and root causes in complex (e.g. ambiguous, from various sources) data and processes to rapidly distill key issues and provide insight in various situations
•    Fluent German and English skills, written and spoken, French will be considered an asset
