Job Purpose/Role

We are looking for a talented and passionate Senior IT Enterprise Architect to join our team to lead the Decommissioning Capability at Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS) in Munich or London.

The Enterprise Architecture Team at AGCS supports the business in maintaining an overview of the fundamental organization of IT, roadmaps the architecture in line with key strategic initiatives and is accountable for proactively and holistically identifying, analyzing, and driving business & technological change within AGCS. The AGCS IT Strategy highlights decommissioning as a key initiative to achieve simplification and removal of legacy, while ensuring data preservation to capitalize on our historical and transactional data.


In this role, you will be responsible to provide appropriate and timely advise to the business in context of AGCS’s key strategic initiatives. This starts and ends with a focus on developing high impact recommendations to AGCS Business Owners, as well as Technical Directors and Engineering Managers (working for Allianz Technology SE in the future) to continuously modernize their application landscape.
As Capability Lead for the IT Decommissioning, you will build and manage cross-functional teams responsible for driving the decommissioning journey of applications, software and hardware components, starting with addressing data archiving resp. data migration to the new target and finally removing all legacy components. This strategic renewal of our application landscape will allow AGCS to achieve a profound change in the business model, reduce ongoing IT costs and lead to greater flexibility, stability, and operational resilience.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • EA Program Management: Shape and introduce technology transformation in AGCS by leading, coordinating and facilitating cross-functional teams (business & IT) for legacy decommissioning as part of the strategic initiatives
  • AGCS Decommissioning: Oversee the decommissioning roadmap, including KPI Framework to monitor progress and collaborate with stakeholders from AGCS and Allianz Group in managing the decommissioning budgets
  • Data Archiving & Migration: Work with business and technology stakeholders to establish a scalable approach to data preservation and develop architectural guidelines for data archiving resp. data migration onto the new target
  • Technology Evolution: Assesses the value and impact of business solution concepts and emerging technologies by leading opportunity assessments and proofs-of-concept through partnership with stakeholders (Business, AZ Technology, Allianz Group)
  • Architecture Practice: Drive maturity in the Enterprise Architecture practice, including EA Processes, roles and responsibilities and architecture deliverables

 

 

Key Requirements/Skills/Experience

  • 15+ years of functional experience in IT or business function
  • Experience in implementing a data archiving or data preservation framework
  • 7+ years of experience facilitating the development and implementation of IT and business initiatives and programs (ideally including data migration projects), based on management objectives 
  • In-depth experience in IT solution development and proven experience in decommissioning of software applications and underlying infrastructure components including preceding data archival/migration
  • Excellent communication skills, managing the expectations of large number of stakeholders and interested parties
  • Prior hands-on experience in some of the following insurance & IT domains desirable:

-    Underwriting, Policy Admin & Reinsurance (especially Large Corporate Insurance)

-    Sales & Distribution, including Customer Relationship Management (in B2B segment)

-    Finance and Accounting 

-    Reporting & Analytics 

-    Enterprise architecture applying a formal EA and ITIL framework

  • Understanding of AGCS system landscape, and basic knowledge of infrastructure components, networks, security and data privacy considerations
  • Understanding of agile methods (SAFe) and ability to guide agile project teams on opportunities, risks, as well as technical and architectural debt
  • Ability to influence others both directly and indirectly and to adapts approach and interpersonal style to best meet the needs of the individual stakeholders
  • Energy, focus, assertiveness, diplomacy, and comfort in dealing with ambiguity
  • Highly skilled and experienced at negotiating conflict and problem-solving to achieve win-win outcomes at executive levels
  • Exceptional ability to lead change using inclusive and collaborative methods
  • Experience in an Allianz Operating Entity and Allianz Group desirable
  • Fluent English is required
