Job purpose/role


At Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS), our Accounting department is responsible for the efficient, accurate, and timely production of AGCS’ financial information, that produces valuable financial insights for the company and helps to protect its assets.
We’re looking for a Senior Financial Accountant (m/f/d) based in Munich, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Cologne or Frankfurt.
You are part of a diverse and experienced team, reporting directly to the Head of Global Insurance Processes. The GIP team is in charge of interfaces handling and master data management. You will be responsible for managing and executing regional as well as fully global accounting processes and  transactions within the area of technical accounting. Furthermore you will prepare the financial statements according to IFRS and you can also steer smaller projects or process improvement initiatives at a global level.

Key responsibilities

In this role you will…
•    Perform Reporting & Closing activities, e.g. by ensuring that all IFRS, Local GAAP and Statutory closing and reporting tasks (e.g. annual report, reporting to regulatory authorities, SVT reporting) are accurate and performed timely on a global basis. 
•    Take care of monthly legal entity close submission activities. This includes also the coordination, transfer and reconciliation of data from interfaces of front-end systems.
•    Implement and refine the technical accounting process for e.g. IFRS 17 in this regard document application of policies, procedures and workflows.  
•    Draft standards to improve quality as well as actively contribute to the improvement of global operation cycles, processes and workflows as well as the implementation of global policies and procedures.
•    Perform Global P&L and balance sheet analysis and reviews. 
•    Manage relationship and show high customer focus in dealing with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. other departments, reinsurers, business units, Group Accounting, auditors, tax authorities, public authorities, etc.).
•    Proactively contribute to projects and process improvement initiatives at a global level.

Key Requirements/Skills/Experience

•    Degree (ideally Master’s) in Business Administration, Business Mathematics/Informatics, Finance or Accounting
•    At least 3 years’ of work experience in in P&C (re-)insurance accounting, financial audit, controlling or similar financial area
•    Proven understanding of standard accounting (IAS/IFRS, Solvency 2 and other local GAAP) in insurance and reinsurance and familiarity with the relevant legislation and standards
•    First Project Management experience would be beneficial
•    You are resolutely customer-focused with the ability to handle complex processes including understanding of data flows.
•    Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills to quickly analyze data and draw the right conclusions. VBA and Access skills are a plus.
•    Experience as active user of SAP BW and preferably SAP FI. Demonstrated efficient use of Excel and/or Access 
•    You are comfortable working both in a team and independently, in an international and dynamic environment
•    Fluent in English; German of advantage
