Position Summary

You will be part of the Operation Team in Allianz GI Japan which covers middle and back office functions for Investment Trust Management (ITM) operation, Discretionary accounts operation, and Sub-advisory and Intermediary mandate operation.

You will cover both BAU (Business As Usual) daily operational tasks and Valuation tasks. You will handle day-to-day BAU Tasks, communicate with local trust banks, clients, and provide oversight on local & international sourcing providers. In addition, you will be involved in local and international valuation which have impact on Operations team in Japan.

We are seeking a candidate that can built positive relationships and drive for results in our business environment. The candidate main role will be to cover BAU daily Operational tasks for ITM funds and Valuation.

 

Valuation role related responsibilities:

  • Execute the daily quality control system (“Independent Price Verification”) ensuring the reliability of the externally sourced pricing feeds
  • Determine fair value estimates/ mark-to-model valuations of less liquid financial instruments (in liaison with internal pricing experts and/ or third party pricing vendors)
  • Resolve time critical valuation issues respecting investment funds´ cut-off times
  • Assume a key role in pricing committees, in particular prepare the presentation material and articulate convincingly the preferred course of action from a SME standpoint.
  • As part of AllianzGI´s Global Valuation Team collaborate closely with valuation specialists outside the Japan (Europe, Hong Kong and US) to ensure common best practice is being leveraged for all AllianzGI portfolios globally
  • Represent AllianzGI’s interest to external entities with a regulatory mandate (e.g. auditors)
  • Follow the latest developments in Japan’s regulatory regime and in case of changes foresee implications on the applied pricing methodology

 

 

Operations Business As Usual related responsibilities:

  • Monitor the trade matching and settlement process
  • Oversee the cash management process related to both potential and actual overdraft
  • Monitor daily custodian reconciliation process
  • Manage and resolve issues with brokers, custodian and service provider including appropriate escalation
  • Establish and maintain a collaborative working environment with both internal and external clients and stakeholders and work closely with TPLC teams in other regions (especially Hong Kong)
  • Queries handling from both internal and external stakeholders
  • Support other day to day Investment Operations related processes
  • Prepare periodical regulatory reporting regarding discretionary mandates
  • Responsible for record keeping and statutory client reporting for onshore and offshore mandates
  • Monitor and manage outsourcing vendors
  • Handle miscellaneous inquiries and trouble shooting
  • Manage daily Investment Trust Management (ITM) accounting operations

 

Experience

  • Higher education degree and a 5-7 years’ or more experience of ITM related financial industry or Asset management industry
  • Knowledge of the established pricing vendors, industry best practices and valuation models for the common types of financial instruments (equities, fixed income instruments and exchange traded derivatives)
  • Experience related to the valuation of financial instruments.
  • Understanding of full trade life cycle including awareness of middle and back-office functions/processes and their touch points with the front office and downstream is a real plus
  • Knowledge and experience in Trade Support related tasks for both fixed income and equity instrument (derivatives is a plus)
  • Flexible approach to changing client requirements and to a changing local and international market environment
  • Past experience into driving local & international project within the Operations area (internal & external stakeholders management) is plus
