Allianz Trade for Multinationals (AZTMNC) is looking for a Senior Underwriter to join the Excess of Loss (XOL) team. This position is based in Brazil.

 

 

Role:

 

As an XOL Underwriter, your role is to develop XoL new business and service existing XoL clients whilst maintaining sound Commercial and Risk underwriting standards. You contribute to the growth of XoL products for Brazil and Americas region.

 

 

Main tasks:

 

- New business generation: 

  * Responsible for a new business budget.

  * Develop good relationships with brokers and regional and local EH offices to generate new business enquiries.

   * Underwriting and pricing of new business enquiries using the XoL pricing model as well as market knowledge.

  * Assess and underwrite credit risks for prospects.

  * Draft policy documents, including the creation of new endorsements to fit prospect's requirements.

 * Ensure compliance to market specifics and local regulations

 * Coordinate with senior internal stakeholders at director level, and across regions, to obtain risk and commercial approvals.

 

- Account Management:

Servicing and renewal of existing portfolio of policies:

 * Ensure portfolio profitability by securing necessary risk share, pricing levels, operational feasibility and maintaining robust risk underwriting

 * Regular meetings with insured, brokers and fellow syndicate members;

 * Risk underwriting including:

       - Deciding on credit limit requests promptly and consistently,

       - Using information available in IRP and market knowledge

       - Monitoring risk exposure, trade sector evolution and action plans

       - Coordinate with Risk offices throughout the World, providing them with

         information and discussing grading requirements

       - Coordinate with internal stakeholders at director level, either group or regional,

         to obtain risk approvals where required.

 * Commercial Underwriting:

       - Pricing and negotiating renewal terms

       - Draft policy documents, including the creation of new endorsements to adapt to

         policy holder's changing requirements

       - Coordinate with senior internal stakeholders at director level, and across regions,

         to obtain risk approvals where required.

 * New Business development:

       - Develop relationship with existing policy holders to increase premium income

 * Reschedulings and Overdues:

       - Monitor policy holders' overdues and post reserves if required.

       - Assess and agree rescheduling requests, seeking approval from region if required

 

- Marketing :

 * Presentations about XoL to brokers and AZT local BUs within MNC and the Region.

 * Coordinate with regional (MNC and Americas) marketing and communication teams to ensure adequate representation of the product.

 

- Projects, including New Product Development

  * Maintain awareness of new market and product developments;

  * Take part in projects and new product development with Heads of XoL, and with senior internal stakeholders.

 

 

Future challenges:

 

- Ability to balance commercial interests and strict standards regarding quality of portfolio when structuring terms, price, conditions and credit limits underwriting; 

- Bringing portfolio profitability by leading appropriate Risk and Commercial (risk share/pricing) actions whilst achieving high level of client retention and actively supporting client business development (extension and cross sell opportunities);
- Ability to justify decisions both internally and externally; 
- Ability to understand and underwrite complex structures;  

- Ability to build strong relationships with clients, brokers and internal stakeholders.
