What you do:

Our ALM Associate will help support the analysis of our ALM strategy and metrics including SAA analysis, interest rate risk, credit risk, liquidity risk, capital, and limit frameworks.  


This role is focused on model building, development, and data analytics to support ALM strategy implementation and monitoring. This will require the ability to run and improve our ALM models to reflect changing market environments. Provide support to asset-based financial reporting requirements including cash-flow testing and principles based reserving requirements. The ALM Associate will also develop investment related assumptions and outputs to support actuarial reporting and analysis. This position will work in collaboration with investment, actuarial, and risk management teams including our global ALM team. This position will report to the Head of ALM.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain ALM models to support statutory, IFRS, and economic analysis
  • Support validating third party modeling software
  • Support ALM strategy and SAA development for inforce and new products
  • Perform duration gap analysis and balance sheet analysis of movement
  • Support asset-based reporting requirements and asset selection for asset adequacy testing, VM20/21, C3P2, and IFRS17
  • Develop and prepare investment and asset related assumptions for ALM and actuarial models


What you bring:

Key Requirements/Skills/Experience –

  • Must have strong ability in C#/C++ or related, RAFM, SQL, VBA, and R or related statistical modelling software. FactSet/Bloomberg experience desired.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, improve, and build models including developing and validating models from first principles and working with complex dataset outputs.
  • Understanding of life insurance company balance sheet and related constraints, familiarity with annuity and life insurance products.


Minimum Requirements –

  • 2-3+ years (5+ years preferred) of experience with a life insurance company or financial services company
  • Strong modelling experience including use of actuarial modelling software
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines, ability to work cross-functionally
  • Four-year degree in quantitative field including mathematics, engineering, economics, actuarial science or related. Preferred masters or significant progress towards ASA level education.
