What you do:

The role of Principal Investment Operations Middle Office Private ABS will be to bring subject matter expertise to Allianz Investment Management (AIM) to support the expansion of AIM’s client investment value chain on primary/secondary and public/private ABS, bank loans, leveraged loans, revolving credit, and/or working capital investments.

 

In collaboration with AIM’s front office and 3rd party asset managers, the Operations Principal Private ABS will drive the implementation of 3rd party software as well as manage the development of the settle, SMF and ongoing maintenance processes of these more complicated asset classes.

 

Further this person will mentor less experienced staff on industry best practices, drive key projects to implement straight through processing, and further optimize repetitive investment value chain processes to deliver superior value to AIM’s clients. 

 

  • Leverage existing environment to optimize private security settlement, trade, and SMF processes to ensure 3rd party asset manager IBOR is represented in client operating entity ABOR.
  • Process asset transfers, Monitor cash forecasts, and Reconcile cash for daily principal and interest activity
  • Wire initiation and processing, Trade capture of outside-managed portfolios
  • Daily trade confirmation, cancellation, and correction,
  • Daily par reconciliation of all bank held positions
  • Ability to mentor and hone the analytical skills of less senior team members in the investment operations value chain

 

What you bring:

  • BA/BS degree in Finance, Accounting, Math or equivalent experience
  • Experience 5+ years in ABS investment management operations
  • Ability to implement investment operations value chain processes
  • Experience using the Bloomberg AIM trade order management system and/or FactSet
  • Intermediate Word and Excel abilities
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new methods, work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions
  • Ability to be flexible when needed, take initiative, and demonstrate accountability
  • Ability to multi-task and effectively manage multiple tasks and projects, including the ability to re-prioritize tasks constantly based on the level of activity generated by the team and other associates.
  • Intermediate oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to share and impart knowledge and convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received by all stakeholders, including customers and managed associates
  • Ability to investigate, analyze and resolve issues based on application of previous experience
  • Intermediate investigative, analytical and problem solving skills with an ability to advance issues timely
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of investment and/or insurance accounting theory and practices (STAT, GAAP, or IFRS)
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work well within a team environment and participate in department/ team projects
  • Ability to balance detail with departmental goals/ objectives

  • Ability to translate business needs and problems into viable/ accepted solutions
  • Basic negotiating and persuasion skills
  • Intermediate knowledge of global securities settlements
  • Intermediate knowledge of global security payment processing
  • Intermediate knowledge of reconciliation processes
  • Intermediate knowledge of cash management of investment portfolios

Preferred Skills

  • Reinsurance or insurance industry knowledge
  • Technical/programming skills in SQL, VBA, or similar
  • Knowledge of a business intelligence reporting (Jaspersoft, Power BI, etc…)
  • Knowledge of PAM or PLM
  • Experience using LoanIQ or ClearPar
  • Knowledge of custodial or FHLB banking processes
  • Possession of/or Progress toward CFA designation or CPA
  • Advanced analytical, finance/accounting, or business management degree
