What you do:

The Head of Sustainability is responsible for developing a comprehensive Sustainability strategy for Allianz Life, taking into account external environment, regulatory considerations, opportunities for competitive differentiation, and alignment with the Allianz Parent Company strategy and programs. Responsible for supporting the ongoing development and rollout of a systematic and transparent approach to integrating Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) considerations across Allianz Life functions, including the implementation of ESG frameworks and policies. Accountable for defining a strategy that positions Allianz Life as a thought leader and in-practice leader among key competitors. Proactively partners and collaborates with stakeholders within the Growth and Marketing (G&M) division of Allianz, which is the division that oversees all areas related to strategic growth and marketing for the company, to understand consumer and advisor insights on sustainability, and ensures business strategy is aligned to meet changing needs. Responsible for coordinating the execution of ESG initiatives across the company, including: Investment guidelines and strategy, customer/advisor research, internal/external communications, environmental reporting, staying abreast of best practices and emerging areas of responsible business practices, and communication of DEI/community engagement outcomes that pertain to the social pillar of the Sustainability strategy.


Drive cross-organizational Partnerships to drive Sustainability strategy and initiatives, including:

• Partner with Product Innovation and New Markets to integrate ESG differentiation into products via product enhancements.

• Partner with G+M and Distribution to segment customers and advisors for propensity modeling and targeted marketing strategies.

• Partner with G+M and Distribution to develop unique advanced markets content to assist advisors in bringing ESG expertise to their customers, and to utilize relevant product and content features for client prospecting.

• Partner with AIM to refine and effectively communicate our ESG investment strategy with key internal/external stakeholders

• Partner with HR, Communications, and D&I to develop comprehensive change management and communications plan to support strategy. This includes applying for relevant awards and maintaining and growing AZ Life’s position as a leader in this space."

• Partner with Finance, Facilities, and other internal stakeholders to ensure required environmental reporting for internal and regulatory audiences is completed accurately and on time

• Partner with Government Relations to stay abreast of changing regulatory requirements and ensure strategy is aligned to address.


External Market Monitoring, Company ESG communications and Reporting, Group (SE) liaison

• Continually monitors the external environment to stay ahead of Sustainability trends and ensure Allianz Life is competitively positioned as a leader vs. peers.

• Serves as a secondary spokesperson for AZ Life on the topic of Sustainability (CEO to take primary responsibility relative to Sustainability as a component of corporate strategy).

• Develops and publishes enterprise reporting materials that captures all relevant Sustainability metrics and outcomes/impact efforts for use internally and externally as needed/desired.

• Acting in the role Local Environmental Officer (LEO) is responsible for liaising with Group (SE) on all ESG data requests providing the requested information with accuracy and on time.


What you bring:

  • 6-7 years' experience required; 8-10 years’ experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal communication, presentation, and change management skills
  • Strong capabilities in strategic thinking, project management and strategic communications
  • Ability to influence and drive strategy and support across multiple stakeholders
  • Experience working with the most senior leadership as well as across the leadership levels in an organization
  • Self-driven and experience managing processes that require input from a variety of internal and external stakeholders; experience working with diverse teams
  • Ability to juggle significant amounts of data, from scientific to financial
  • Experience in financial services products, life insurance preferred
  • Four-year degree required: 4 year degree or equivalent work experience​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
