The Director, Customer Identity and Access Management will report directly to the AVP, COO Business Controls Office. The role is both a business and a technical leader accountable for the prioritization and implementation of transformative capabilities for identity and access management (CIAM) for our customers and policyholders. This role will have direct accountability for overseeing the deployment and management of CIAM solutions, including authentication, authorization, single sign-on (SSO), multi-factor authentication (MFA), risk aware workflows, and identity governance. This individual will work with leaders in the Special Investigation Unit, Privacy, Customer Experience, Operations, Information Security and Technology, and our digital channels to ensure the prioritized adoption of effective CIAM controls and related policies and standards.

Strategic Vision and Planning: Develop and oversee the execution of a multi-year strategic roadmap for CIAM maturity, driving the program forward through well-thought-out roadmaps and execution plans.
Documentation and Training: Document CIAM processes, procedures, and best practices, and provide training and support materials to users and stakeholders. Conduct user training sessions and workshops to ensure the effective utilization of the CIAM system.
Compliance and Incident Management: Ensure compliance with relevant applicable regulations (e.g, NYDFS Part 500, CCPA, and HIPAA) and industry standards relating to customer data protection and security. Ensure that CIAM systems are monitored and tested for risks and vulnerabilities against evolving threats. Investigate and respond to security incidents and implement measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
Continuous Improvement: Leveraging data and metrics to drive informed decision-making. Drive continuous improvement of the CIAM capabilities by staying updated with industry trends and emerging technologies. Continuously evaluate and enhance the CIAM system to meet evolving customer needs and emerging security threats.
CIAM Controls: Implement authentication and access control policies and mechanisms to ensure that customers have appropriate access to resources and services. This may involve setting up role-based access controls, defining user permissions, and managing customer access privileges. Implement other technical security measures such as data encryption, data masking, and secure data storage practices where necessary.
What you bring:
- 8+ years of experience required
- Four-year degree required
- Licensing/Certification/Other: Strong understanding of CIAM technologies and protocols, including SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect, LDAP, and Active Directory. Experience with CIAM tools and platforms (e.g., Okta, ForgeRock/Ping Identity, SailPoint).
