Job Purpose/ Role
The Head of Actuarial Processes, reporting to the Head of Corporate Actuarial Allianz Re, is a seasoned professional who

  • Drives forward work and initiatives in the area of responsibility
  • Is the first point of contact for Allianz Re's Corporate Actuarial processes (P&C and L&H) 
  • Oversees the development and enhancement of actuarial approaches, models and analysis tools
  • Sets and manages priorities
  • Ensures execution of actuarial processes during peak times, e.g. quarterly closings 
  • Develops own team and manages projects across teams and locations
  • Engages with AZ Re senior management and the Functional Board as well as Group functions


Key responsibilities

  • Keep abreast of leading market practice and drive innovation
  • Maintain and further develop the Corporate Actuarial IT applications and Data & Process landscape for Reserving, Reporting and Actuarial Risk Capital modelling in compliance with internal and external requirements (e.g. IFRS 17 standard, Group guidenance)
  • Manage the interfaces to business, data management teams and IT at Allianz SE Re
  • Ensure the connection between Allianz Re local and Group provided systems
  • Manage and drive forward actuarial projects
  • Support reserving teams by managing actuarial processes during closings (e.g. setting up and running reserving tools and processes, technical valildation, data provisioning and reconciliation between systems)
  • Coordinate and enhance IT governance within Corporate Actuarial 
  • Provide advice on actuarial systems and processes to stakeholders 
  • Peer review work from team members, provide guidance to junior team members


Qualifications

  • University Degree, preferably in Mathematics, Statistics, Informatics or another simliar discipline 
  • Qualified Actuary (e.g. FSA, FIA, DAV, etc.)

 

Required experience

  • Min 6 years experience in P&C (Re)Insurance; ideally additional experience in L&H business
  • Significant experience in IT system / Tool development including writing data and business specifications 
  • Experience in managing teams

 

Technical skills

  • Robust P&C (Re)Insurance, Reserving and Finance know-how; Risk Capital modelling knowledge is a plus
  • Extensive IT skills (SAS, SQL/Oracle, MS Office incl. VBA/PowerQuery and relevant expert systems such as ResQ and Unify) 
  • In-depth understanding of P&C reserving processes and dataflows; strong interest and ideally experience in designing or streamlining reserving processes 
  • Knowledge of accounting and reporting standards, especially IFRS 17 is a plus
  • Reinsurance expertise is a plus

  • Excellent analytical, conceptual and problem solvings skills in order to identify solutions for business challenges 
  • Strong communication skills 
  • Ability to work in an international and multi-cultural environment and to collaborate with actuaries as well

  • Provide leadership within the “People Attributes”-framework of the Allianz Group
  • Excellent command of English, German is a plus
