JOB ROLE SUMMARY 
Group Data Analytics (GDA) is a department in Allianz’ global headquarters. 
The Data Intelligence team simplifies insurance for our customers, drives the future business data landscape and accelerates the transformation of Allianz into a business data-driven service provider as we are pragmatic, courageous team players from diverse backgrounds. 
To enhance our mission we are looking for an External Data Expert. You will work in interdisciplinary team setups alongside business owners, insurance business experts and technical experts on geospatial focus topics. 
The External Data Expert will implement innovations to make better use of external data/opensource data in business environments. You will identify opportunities where internal data can be complemented by external data to build superior solutions and improve processes. Further activities will provide strategic advisory for all data-related queries in the realm of external data. 
The External Data Expert will report directly to the Head of Data Intelligence.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
•    Leverage external data to optimize and evolve Allianz business model 
•    Create future economic benefit by leveraging the full potential of internal and external data 
•    Identification and setup of strategic sourcing partnerships with 3rd parties to access and utilize external data 
•    Establish data partnerships and build adjacent businesses through partnerships and ecosystems
•    Help to develop a comprehensive and scalable blueprint approach for the respective insurance domain on how to solve similar challenges and up-level this domain by better making use of (external) data
•    Identify potential improvements in data usage on a specific business use case and drive functional changes

 

KEY INTERACTIONS
•    AZ SE, esp. group functions involved in dealing with internal & external data sources 
•    AZ OEs, esp. Data Hunter/Experts/Scientist, Chief Data Officer, Head of Data Analytics
•    External partners (e.g. Data provider, research institutes, Fintech, Insurtech, Startups, solution partners)

 

REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
•    Bachelor's/ Master's degree in Science / Engineering / Economics / Business Administration
•    Practical experience in third party Data Acquisition and Data Management from Public and/or Private sectors (Geospatial Data experience is a Plus)
•    Practical experience in setting-up of strategic partnerships and driving topics in both strategic and operational settings
•    Program/project management experience in data and transformation projects
•    Entrepreneurial can-do attitude and drive with out-of-the-box-thinking focus on quality execution and delivery of task, result-oriented, customer-focused, pro-active, flexible and energetic team player with ability to work under pressure
•    Being willing to 'go the extra' mile for our customers, partners and other business units
•    Basic understanding and/or strong interest in data analytics/AI 
•    Fluency in English is required, additional languages are a plus
•    3-5 years of experience in insurance or technology sector
•    Resilience to drive change and handle Pushback in a large and complex Organization
•    Thrives on a green field environment where tasks might not yet be defined and where organizational structures and stakeholders could change constantly
•    Out of the box thinker with ability to deep dive in the insurance business processes
•    A passion for identifying and solving analytical problems and for translating your insights into data-driven and actionable recommendations
•    Ability to communicate expert knowledge in a target-audience friendly way
•    Knowledge about insurance dynamics (Allianz knowledge of advantage), transformation initiatives, and dependencies
