Overview
As a member of the UW Strategy and Planning team in Global Commercial, the overall purpose of this role is to drive a culture of portfolio optimization and continuous improvement in the Mid Corp Portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish, maintain and improve Global MidCorp portfolio management framework, processes & activities  to help ensure that the underwriting strategy aligns to the business plan and risk appetite, including ownership of the formal documentation of the framework
  • Drive implementation of portfolio techniques, analysis & reviews across MidCorp organization
  • Provide quantitative and qualitative input for MidCorp business / strategic reviews
  • Identify underlying portfolio issues and opportunities and translate them into recommendations and options for improvement, both strategic and technical levels
  • Play a key role in reviewing planning assumptions (e.g., loss ratios, CAT review, large losses, premium and volatility assumptions)
  • Develop a broader set of portfolio optimization metrics, to give greater insight into planning decisions, and help maximize the ROE
  • Support data team(s) with relevant business and portfolio analytics projects
  • Steer and ensure alignment of wider group initiatives (e.g. ACM) on portfolio management framework & processes
  • Provide input to inform overall risk appetite discussions before the planning process and contribute to any reinsurance-specific risk appetites
  • Support OEs and Regions with technical and analytical portfolio matters / reviews
  • Support alignment of portfolio management work with pricing and reinsurance work
  • Support Regional Hubs and OEs through training & analysis
  • Develop a broader set of portfolio optimization metrics, to give greater insight into planning decisions, and help maximize the ROE


Key Requirements/Skills/Experience:

  • University degree (Master / University Diploma) in Actuarial Science or similar technical discipline
  • 10+ years experience working in (re)insurance company, broker or consultancy
  • Strong analytics/statistical skills gained preferably in a Pricing, Reserving and /or  Capital Modelling
  • Outwards reinsurance experience desirable
  • Experience with working on large data sets and creating impactful management information
  • Strong IT skills, preferably knowledge of programming languages or predictive analytics
  • Strong ability in problem solving, prioritization and implementation know how
  • Strong ability to influence (and getting things done) w/o having disciplinary authority
  • Fluency in English language (verbal & written), local language skills are an advantage
