Job Purpose/Role

The Center of Competence - Life and Health (CLH) supports the execution of Allianz's Life agenda through strategy development, growth and business enabling,  provision of technical capabilities, and global/regional/local projects. 

The Protection team within CLH is responsible for the Protection Accelerator Program (PAP). The goal of the PAP is to foster significant new business growth in protection (Target PVNBP CAGR > 10% p.a.), based on two elements: 1) Orchestrating local Protection Accelerator Programs set up in six core OEs/regions, and following a common framework of growth levers (distribution, products, technical excellence), 2) Driving a set of specific global topics (e.g., Corporate Protection, PPI). The PAP is governed by a Steering Committee where the Life Leaders of the participating OEs/regions are represented, and reports progress in regular intervals to the Allianz SE Board.

We are looking for an experienced project manager to manage the Protection Accelerator Program during 2022, stepping in for the current project manager who will go on maternity leave. The role encompasses three main elements: 1) Managing the PAP (e.g., project planning, milestone tracking, preparation of STCs/Board updates, follow up with OEs), 2) Leading specific PAP-related topics from a content perspective (e.g., Corporate Protection, Agent Productivity, ...), 3) Gaining exposure and contributing to the wider CLH agenda

The candidate will be integrated into the Protection team within CLH, and have the opportunity to gain exposure to a wide set of (senior) stakeholders in the Life business


Key responsibilities:

1) Manage Protection Accelerator Program
- Develop and maintain project plan / 2022 calendar
- Drive preparation of regular Steering Committees with Life Global Leaders (agenda development, interaction with OE contacts, content production)
- Lead preparation of regular SE Board updates (storylining, content production, preparation of stakeholder alignments)
- Closely monitor overall progress of the program, identify and mitigate issues through follow-up with OEs and appropriate stakeholder management
- Closely interact with the PIM (Finance) team within CLH to co-ordinate regular Protection reporting
- Act as an ambassador for the PAP and contribute to regular communication activities (e.g., Life Digital Sessions)

2) Lead specific PAP-related content topics
- Lead selected PAP global topics, contributing specific content expertise
- Current potential topics for 2022 include e.g., Refinement/implementation of a new operating model for Allianz Global Benefits, identifying opportunities for direct distribution of protection products with Allianz Direct, preparing protection-specific M&A transactions

3) Contribute to the wider CLH agenda
- Contribute to strategic CLH topics from a protection perspective (e.g., Supervisory Board life strategy updates)
Reporting to (function): Head of Protection



  • Excellent University degree  
  • Fluent in English 
  • Excellent MS-Office skills

Experience and key skills:

  • At least 6-8+ years of experience in the insurance business or consultancy, more is welcomed
  • Prior exposure to the Life protection business
  • Deep knowledge in at least one of the following areas relrevant to Protection: Products & Pricing, Sales, Market Management
  • Good understanding of the entire insurance value chain and the key profit drivers per respective focus area.
  • Proven project management skills and experience in project management in an international, multi-cultural environment
  • Process-minded, analytical, good problem solver
  • Good conceptual/strategic skills, willingness to work on cross-functional projects
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, including willingness to communicate with senior management
  • Willingness to multitask, with focus on speed and execution
  • Proactive, high level of energy and drive, above average commitment and flexibility
  • Good knowledge of the Allianz organization in terms of structure and business model.
