Job Role/Purpose 

Based in London and reporting to Head of Financial Institutions, you will work closely with clients and brokers to develop personalised solutions as well as developing new relationships. You will be responsible for underwriting profitable new and renewal business to meet Financial Institutions targets regionally including global elements. Your responsibilities also include negotiating participation, pricing and terms & conditions, acquiring new business and retaining existing business. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Underwrite in line with Financial Institutions governance framework - e.g. Underwriting Authorities, Underwriting Guidelines, Rules and Principles 
• Ensure contract certainty is achieved on all accounts at time of inception 
• Drive involvement of functional areas in Underwriting process, including Market Management, Risk Consulting, Claims, Operations 
• Manage referrals from underwriters and re-underwrite complex business as appropriate 
• Contribute to the development and execution of regional Underwriting strategy for Financial Institutions 
• Create and maintain positive relationships with key producers and clients and other relevant stakeholders (e.g. risk managers) 
• Ensure accurate policy documentation is issued to producers (where it is AGCS’ responsibility to do so) or producers has issued documentation (where producer responsibility). 

Key Requirements/Skills/Experience 

• You have a degree either in Economics, law or other appropriate discipline 
• You have at least 3 years’ experience as an Underwriter, Broker or relevant equivalent in the Financial Institutions sector 
• Ideally you are CII qualified or equivalent or working towards it 
• You have experience underwriting profitable business in the Financial Institutions segment of large corporate international insurance  
• You have recognised relationships with clients and brokers at peer group level and are well established within the market 
• You have a specialised understanding of regional / local Financial Institutions insurance markets and competitor landscape 
• Capable of leveraging data and analytics to make business more efficient and effective 
• You have a good understanding of the legal and regulatory framework 
• You can design, develop and implement consistent, robust wordings for contracts.
